I have spent most my life in the UK with the extended visits to Australia covered by these approximate dates...
79-83 Melbourne
85,87,89,94 visits for around 3 months.
2000-01 Surfers Paradise, Hervey Bay (Scarness, father lives there), Melbourne.
2005-06 Melbourne (a few months in Altona Shitsville then moved to St Kilda for the remainder of the year...left in AUgust 06 to return to the (f)UK)

I would consider myself partially australian though definately more British because I don't seem to find much in common with the majority of Aussies I meet whenever I am that far South. The lihter skinned Kiwis are the crowd, in the souhtern hemisphere, who I can most easily find common ground to connect over. WHen I leave the Uk i hate it here and swear I am never coming back, then when I return from Australia I hate it there and am never going back...None of those sentiments are everlasting but this yoyo effect of bouncing between the extreme North and extreme South of the planet must end at some point...or must it????CUrrently I am considering making a plan to get back to VIctoria perhaps as early as the latter part of this current year but who knows what the future may hold.

Interesting suggestion...but to exist in a country in the region you mention I would need a means of survival and the relevant visas, which are both difficult to obtain for the equatorial countries as far as I know.

Well if you succeed in your quest to live on the equator, try to buy an island please. And I don't know maybe 200 plane tickets there for all us to come and start our own nation of equatorial, weed growing and smoking special people! Oh and don't forget to plant some banana trees mm I LOVE bananas!

It's beyond me how anyone could find our accents hot.
Whenever there is a show on the discovery channel and it changes from say an american to an australian it's like this:

american: "yes well the overall capacity of the device is subsequently decreased during the later stages of this tedious process"

australian: "yeh the stuff goes in the stuff and there ya bloody have it a thing with a top on it yeh!"

I can't help but crack up, I guess it's just a change - I find any accent hot really.

personally i have found most americans ignorant but harmless and generally very nice people... their government on the other hand... grr...

some of them will be welcome on the island though!

Yeh I just wish we had our own identity, which we do but it's slowly being changed to fit into americas shadow. Communication over long distances has somewhat ruined culture, but hey I wouldn't be able to talk to you guys so I guess it's worth it lol.
