A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar.

Most scholars are poor so don't live in comfort

or something?
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

I think ol' Lao Tzu was a little wayward with that attempt at wisdom. But then again, to make that slur stick I would need to read more of Tzu's definition the word 'scholar'. Because in my understanding although it can mean someone with deep knoweldge of a subject, that subject can be anything from 'revelling in the bosoms and thighs of twelve nubile, nymphomaniac Amazon Goddesses' to 'the bermuda triangle'. Also, scholar can mean, again in my understanding, simply one who studies. Which again leads to the 'what subject' routine.

So I will, for once, stand on the fence in my opinion on the interesting lines from Tzu. Perhaps hochongs would be gracious enough to enlighten us with Tzu's ideas about what constitutes a scholar and also, as a bonus, Tzu's interpretation of comfort.
