I wrote this today after I spent a few hours job hunting. It was really hot today so I spent a few hours in the park by the lake and sat in the gazeebo there and wrote this after smoking a fat joint
The Unhappy Man
It's so easy when you're a child
You can cover the memory with a smile
But the time flys on
Oh, the time flys on.
Then you wake up one day
And wonder if you're half-way
To that spot on the earth that's all yours
And as you see your own reflection
In the glass at the department store
And wondering if this could be
This face you see cannot be yours
You didn't see the time fly on
Oh yes, the fime flys on.
Some people who lose what they love
Will never, ever recover
Sometimes it's a friend, a job
A wife, a child, or a lover
You're scared to see that face again
The time is wearing on you thin
And in that mirror lays the remains
Of the unhappy man.
You tried to find solace
In the tunnel with no end in sight
Tried every doctor, book, and pill
And all the experimental
Some would help for the moment
The others were useless and overdone
And even after all of this
The time flys on
Oh lord, the time flys on.
I'm not sure if this is complete or not. I think I could easily put some music to it...sad kind of music, methinks.
Thanks guys and gals! I'm somewhat proud of these lyrics because when I read them they remind me of one of my idols, Leonard Cohen. Sounds like something he might write himself.
