First successful grow operation - *Updated april 17th*

Here's a pic of my little ones... sprouted March 23rd, the pic was taken April 15. They already reak up my whole room, in vegetative.

*UPDATE* can anyone tell me if they also see green pixels in the photo? My computer has shown them for a lot of pictures, and I think it's just because I have a shitty video card... anywho, let me know.

*Update* (Two days after picture) Up until now, I had the little cocksuckers on a 24-hour photo-period... however, after signing off last night, I checked on them, and they had almost outgrown the grow chamber. The big one you see up front was actually touching the light bulb itself, and the two bigger ones in the back were literally millimetres away from the other bulb. The one in the front of course, had been burnt, but luckily I checked them when I did. There's only a few burn marks on the sides of a couple leaves. This just goes to show, don't underestimate your plants' growth rate! Last night before I went to bed, I got out my timer, (which I had no need for before) and set them up with their first 9 hours of darkness they had ever seen. I just hope the irregular photoperiod won't stress them into males, as it's getting around the crucial time where they decide for themselves which way to swing. Anyways, I moved the two lights up as far as they would go... I'll have to do some modifications to the grow chamber today, as the box/pot was on risers... I'll be sure to take some more pictures when I get a chance to use my mom's digital camera. She's an anti-pot kind of person, and she doesn't know about my plants though, so don't expect anything extremely soon. Anywho, I'll keep ya'll updated.

I can't say for sure, but I was told that it was Super Skunk, and I do know for sure it was skunk of some sort, because I smoked the weed the seeds came from. It was a herme crop, but very potent. I remember that night, I came home with a 1/2 oz. and I began cutting it up in my room and my mom started bitching from upstairs, because it smelled worse than any session I had ever had in my room. Needless to say, when it came time to actually smoke it, I went outside.

The lights are two 25w self ballasted flourescent lamps. I bought them for 12 odd bucks a bulb, and they put out 1100 lumens a peice. I've got them inches away from my plants though, and my source says 2000 lumens per square foot is optimum.

I'm trying to give them a little less light now, or else they'll grow too big before I can put them outside. It's times like this that I hate Canada's climate. Just last night it got down to 0 C, or 32 F... Which is pretty fucked up, seeing that it's 18 C (almost 60 F) out at the moment. From what I've heard, the rule of thumb in my area is to take them outside around may 24 weekend.

Theres certain technique you can use that will protect the roots from rapid temperature changes it eases the plant into the temp change. I'm not sure if it works as well with dropping temperatures since in florida our problem is rising temperature, but it seems logical that it would and at the same time it is also helpful for the plant to grow naturally with less maintenance.

You line the surface of the root base with compost and mulch but keep it from touching the actual base of the plant so that it doesnt rot the stem (just a few inches will do it) this keeps the roots more insulated from outside temperatures so that the temp still changes but it's alot more gradual than it would normally be without the compost.

The main thing you have to be careful with is the acidic levels of the compost because they will cause a rise in your PH levels. If you start with a soil that is lower on the PH range it shouldnt be a problem.

This also provides the soil with nutrients so that the plant takes its food from the soil instead of you having to constantly worry about feeding it and promotes helpful fungus growth that also helps to protect the plant from certain types of bugs and provides more nutrients.

you can use flood lights bulbs to grow im only using long fluorescent bulbs and mine are growing good
