i walked over burning ember barefoot while i was in the bahamas. the natives there do it all the time, i think its for stress relief. If you dont panic and step evenly its not that bad the secret is to put equal wait on the entire bottom of your foot

I know this topic is old, but...

Hot coals aren't hard to walk on, even though the wood has a high temperature, it doesnt gain or lose heat easily. Put a pan with a wood handle in the oven and heat it to about 300F, you can pick it upo by the handle for a few seconds before you start to get burned.
