should i install win2000?

i got amd duron 900mhz with 2X 128mb ram sticks.
i runing win xp with all updates. i use zone alarm pro and mcafee 2005.

now everything is so dam slow and i waiting on extra ram cos i want to get ambike first.

now would it make a very noticable change if i were to downgrade to windows 200, i do have a working copy. WOuld there be major compatibility issues with all my usb shit or is win 200 kinda good at woring stuffout lik ethat when it installed??

as long as the inernet connection my asdl 512/sec thing then i should be able to gain the driver si need if i dot havethem nehwere else if i do install win2000.

i do have 2 hard drives, i could put my music and documents i wish to keep ont he second hard drive, then format the system hard drive, then install windows 2000 to it?

any advice would be wicked as ever?

mainly is it worth going back to windows 2000 when i have most settings on win xp set to off thati dotn need, like bakground servics and stuff.
its an issue cos i running at like 280mb of RAM when i got mcfee zone alarm and xp running, which means i always using bit of my page file, which makes shit so slow. i know more ram or other pc is the easiest way. i jyust wondered if a install of win 2000 would rsult in more speed?

It probably wont make any difference. I dont see why you need to have Zone Alarm up and running. Close it down and then just load it up once a week to see if you have any spyware. If you do choose to do it, you can move all your files to the second hd and format the one with windows without a problem

Just put Windows Firewall on and you should be fine. The way I see it aswell, what is a hacker actually going to want on your pc? Unless you have credit card details or something like a murder confession, I doubt a hacker is just gonna come in and steal your stuff.
