phone hijacking!

when i was staying at my mums house a few months back in the uk, she received a phone bill which had a load of itemized 'internet service' calls which charged to about 50 quid. These werent my mums calls as i kow the ISP she uses and it is alwaysthe same number, and it doesnt show up as a charge as she pays amonthly flat fee. She spoke with the fuckers who sent her the bill, i think she hasa BT line, but TESCO are the phone line providers. Now Bt told her to call tesco then tesco told her thatshe had to goto google and download 'spybot'.
what kind of advice is that i thought. terrible.
she doesnt have spyware i doubt as she uses zone alarm pro with all updates and mcafee 2005.

can anyone explain how someone could be usng her phone line/number for internet services that they are using from a different location?

any help is greatly appreciated by my mother and myself.

Zone Alarm wont stop Spyware... and i know NOrtons, AVG etc let Spyware threw need a Real Time Spyware thinger like what SpyBot Tea Time does...

Its easy to Download a Dialer and let ZonAlarm to let it have acess

They was right to say what they said not good advice but thats what you gotta do

Sound like a Dialer and its chnage the Dial Up Number to one what charges like £1:50 a Min etc

Run A Spyware scan to see these programs will do that if you anit got them already

thanks for the words sniper. though i still unsure whats going on exactly as it looks more like someone else is somehow using another isp and charging it through my mums landline. anyway we shall see whats what soon as she will receive her next bill. there is a gap between when she had the calls on her last bill and when i installed ZA PRO and MCAFEE, so maybe something was on there before that isnt on there now, should ZA pick thatshit up. She does have adaware i willhave to explain to her where to find it on her pc!

Zone Alarm should unless it changed the number before i guess...

It's so easy to install Dialers with out knowin, there was a mp3.exe what installed and you didnt even know till saw all the Shit it left Bookmarks etc and thats if you said No when the Java thing come up

I know BT etc Block Certain Numbers to stop this happenin now so might wana see if they do the same and anit gotta worry again

There are spyware programs that download themselves on to your computer and dial out to the Internet themselves, they are premium rates aswell.
