just a question...

Post by Starcast »

I'm one of those teenagers who have no ambition and don't know what to do with their life. (Your regular stoner =P) I get straight A's, and I was in the "gifted" program in like elementary school. So, not to sound cocky or anything because I'm not, I'm pretty smart. My question is does anyone know if it's possible to go and get a job as a grower in Amsterdam? I figure I could go to a decent college and study botany, then move over. I'm pretty good with languages, so I wouldn't mind learning Dutch. This is basically the only profession that interests me... I actually do find the crossbreeding interesting... and I figure if I really set my mind to it I could pull off some cool shit of (like those geniuses that bred the lowryder automatic) But anyone know if it's feasible to go and intern and a grower in Amsterdam? And if so what's the pay? (besides access to shitloads of crazy nug)

Interesting that you should mention something like this. I've wanted to do this exact same thing, but my only reservations being that Amsterdam is an extremely crowded place. You might do better to start a business in another small town nearby Amsterdam. I never thought about becoming a supllying grower, just a personal grower and opening a small cafe as you suggested GAZ, but with the way things are going I might be able to do this same thing in Vancouver within a few years. I would want to travel to Amsterdam first to discover what their cafes are truly like.

This should be an interesting topic to follow.

I reckon if you had like 10 grand, you could put a down payment on a shop in Dam and start your own place. I can see it now, Tweedles Smoke Shack

Yes its possible. Its not an easy market to get into, however. The Dutch have all the pot farmers they need, if you bring something *valuable* (a rare skill) and *needed* (medical, computer genius, highly skilled and educated with strong reccomendations from prior employers like Microsoft or Chevron or something, Arthur Danials Midlind I guess if you are talking horticulture) for the national good of Holland, they might consider you for the possibility of being put in what ammounts to a raffle - most needed or skilled persons take priority of course - to get permission to go there not just on vacation but as a worker - much like getting a green card in the USA. So then you want to grow pot - and the established horticulture specifically pot growers do not want you competing against them (opening your own grow) but *might* let you start working as a hydro farmer for them if you can demonstrate experience and ability. Fresh out of college I would reccomend trying to get work with Hydrofarm or one of the major USA hydro companies first. 5 or so years of experience goes a long way. Of course the Dutch dont really *need* pot growers...
My friend got a job in Amsterdam - he had a masters in Business Admin - was making about 80,000$ a year in US for Dupont. He went to Amsterdam with my brother and me and about 8 other guys. He never came home. He is illegally in the country now, working to deliver pot to clubs and for the Cannibus Club Competition annual event. He is making about 15,000$ a year working as a pot runner and a bar back at night. He loves it - he also lives in a squat with about 10 other people.

Id stay here and grow, man. Its a sellers market.

yeh thats a great idea, except that coffeeshops are no longer alowed to officially open. once they get closed, they dont reopen legally. hence why u dont really see new coffeeshops opening their anymore.
getting jobs in soffeeshops is pretty difficult too, cause everyone has the same idea.
growing jobs are rare also. most of the companies over their, are 1-2 man operations, not full fleets of staff, so starting ur on business is the only way without a lot of luck.

the demand is more in areas out side of Amsterdam,,,primarily because of the legality factor...
a single coffee house would do much better business in say North Dakota than it would in Dam's Red Light District..you would also get your ass busted halfway up the moon if you opened a coffeeshop in North Dakota..but thats besides the point

Dam has the best bud and more importantly the largest variety of bud..primarly because it is semi-legal..doesnt mean you cant do the same in your back yard (or if you want to be safe, in your step-dad's back yard)

you just have to keep it clean and know how to keep the growing under wraps...
