That's weird, as plenty of people i "know" have been brutally beaten, and i know of a few cases where people have been murdered for cannabis related activity in ireland.

Probably IRA related incidents. I know that they are both violent and heavily opposed to smoking cannabis, so that would make sense.

well thats true unless you heard the stories that some of the splinter groups were rumoured to have links with drug pushers to raise funds. I know in some areas of dublin you have the like of parents against drug use and they dont see a diffrence with dope and H ones as good as the other and I know some of these groups can be quite militant espacilly to dealers. I personally have had no trouble with the like of this as I dont advertise that im having a joint if I do want a smoke in the city I usaully find a park or somewhere i can sit down in a bit of peace and quite to skin up. Not so much as for the cops and anti drug groups but for the arse holes who are constantly trying to scrounge off you. I have often given people who I have seen aroung the makings of a spliff but as usaul with some of these guys you give em a spliff and the want the lot. One day a gave a guy the makings preety decent guy seem him around a bit after 10 15 minutes he was back scroungin again me with enough to see me through the night before I could pick up some more. Sorry mate but no he became quite aggressive towards me becuase I wouldnt give him enough for a smoke. Dicks like these give smokers a bad name I was genours to him and he repaid my kindness with hostility.

Yes, of course it does happen. Like Jim McCann in the 70s and 80s, for example. There are obviously people who abuse the smuggling connections they make in the IRA, but you can be sure they don't go shouting about it, as it is still the IRA's public stance is against Marijuana.

But on the whole i doubt it is much different from anywhere else, don't get caught and you're fine.
