if i buy ram does it need to be a certain pin type???

k contrary to my other posts i realzie now that ram is my only real way of getting this fucker moving faster.

icurrently have 2 128mn ram things hat go into the two slots on the motherbaoad.

can i simply go to ebay and look for a 512mb ram thing??
do i need tolook for one with a certain amount of pins??

and what is the difference between sdram ddram etc???

there should be a sticker which indicates the frequency,

like SD RAM PC133. You should look up how much ram your mother board can support.


SD RAM - Synchronous dynamic random access memory delivers bursts of data at high speeds using a synchronous interface. Its is actually SDR SDRAM (single data rate SDRAM) but is usually used to referred to as just "SDRAM."

DDR RAM - (Double Data Rate) or DDR SDRAM The next generation of the current SDRAM. DDR finds its foundations on the same design core of SDRAM, yet adds advances to enhance its speed capabilities. As a result, DDR allows data to be read on both the rising and the falling edge of the clock, delivering twice the bandwidth of standard SDRAMS. DDR essentially doubles the memory speed from SDRAMs without increasing the clock frequency


basically ddr runs faster at adouble the bandwith.

no need to gloat twiddler!!!tho yes it appears that what you advised is the only way i gunna be able to get my box of tricks performing magic at a faster rate!

and i didnt have ne money before, but i have recently come into some money from both the aussie government, thankyou very much howard!!, and also some money from back home, so my financial situation , in this country at least, has improved dramatically!!!

i just hate spedning money that i havent really got, when there mayb be a free alternative, but the overcoclcing game just didnt work out for me, tho i didn manage to speed things up al ittle with a interesting tweakui program for windows.
still it was a fun few days while i desprately tried to worjk out how to make the processor run faster, i do like to leanr stuff about pcs and my knowledge isnt as bad as i foten make out, tho often it is!

can u add nething to this ram business i trying to get then? is sdr much slower than ddr or would changing from 2X 128mb memory bits to a 128+ 512mb make such a difference that even the sdram wil seem wicked?i think i can get a 512mb sdram thing, i say thing as i dont know what to cal the memory thing with lot sof pins on it that goes into one of the 2 slots on the motherboard, neway yeh i can get one for about 50-80A$ on ebay does that sound ike decent price?

good idea rc, and thanks for assistance as evr=er i will do as you suggest. i will wait a week or so as i ecpect to spend a bita cash next week when my little goddess arrives here, so maybe u shud wait a bit, we shall see, then again she coming here with double my cash so maybe she be treating me to afew things, tho most likely probably things that dont cost money, just lust and lovin!
