microphone??

hey i got a creative 24 bit live! soundblaster card. on my old pc, my mate used to just use my headphones as a mic, when he was showing me how to use soundforge.

i still got the same sound card, and i bought some cheap headphones today as i thought that i could do the same thing, and use some headphones as a mic, then i could have proper video conference with my lady who is still gay paris.

so can neone help me get some headphones working as a mic on windows xp with my sound card???

i know its possible as it was show to me before, but i was more interested in recording myself tha how my jate actually got the mic working in this way.

if its the headphone/mics i'm thinking off you can just insert the jacks into the proper audio ports and not have to install anything, make sure mics arent muted.

i got thse dirt cheap headphons and connected them to the mic hole, then un muted the mix through control panel and raised yhe volume through creative console thing.

i managed to speak to my lady on msn mesenger a bit, but even tho i had all volumes turned up full, she couldnt here me very well, only very quietly.is this beacsue i using a 2$ headphone as amic that it is so quiet???or is it some setting that im missing?

the farthest i ever tried using msn mic connection was prolly about to a friend about less than 2 hours away and it sounded alright still.

could be internet, the msn connection, or her volume setting is low.
