Question about food stamps

I was laying on the couch and my mother says, "Arik, I want you to apply for food stamps"

FUCK YEAH I said but I'm a person who likes to keep all my options open and not really hurt my self in any way. And for some reason I find it hard to believe I can get food stamps "free money" and not have it come back and hit me in the face some how.

So yeah, I live in oregon if that changes any rules to the food stamps.

Will getting food stamps hurt me in any way?

No, food stamps are wonderful for stoners. And it's all electronic now, so you get a little food stamp debit card. It's basically free money, since you can spend your own money on stuff besides food. Fuckin rights' I am applying as soon as I get back to Washington.

You don't have to pay it back or anything!

We have papa murphys here. (take N bake pizza) You can use a food stamp card for it so you can bet my consumption of pizza has just doubled.

I think My mother is going to try and spend my food stamp money. She would'nt have suggested it if she did not have a plan. But hell, what can I do? I need to move out.

You have to go to the DHS office in your city. It takes forever, you have to wait in a drab lobby with a bunch of other poor and homeless ppl.... of course there had to be a catch.

In my neck of the woods you have to make a food stamps appointment, that usually last for a few hours. We use to have food stamps but i guess i make to much money now so they took them away

Seriously...food stamps are for people who genuinely are in need. I have some friends that get the Bridge Card even though they have more money than I do (which isn't a lot but still) it's tempting, but personally, I wouldn't apply for them unless I was in fact, in need. I don't have that much money, but I figure if I can afford to keep a steady supply of green, then I can afford groceries. So don't get them unless you need them, kids!

haha its funny that i happen to cross this thread. my mom jus got home from shoping (we have foodstamps) she was all saying how we havnt had this much food in 5 years, wich is the truth.. its not like we dont eat because we never go hungry but we dont exactly have enough money for rent and the bills plus food so food stamps r a good thing..

Food stamps are a program set up by the state and federal US govt, though canada might have a similar program, i dont know. And yes you can get them at any age under 18, but the catch is you have to be legally independant of your parents/guardians, which i highly doubt you will be able to do at 15.
