justice
what motivates legal justice??why does legal justice seem to be so far away from moral justice?justice is about equality, but legal justice seems to strange these days. people been charged for running kids over, then been allowed to walk free and drive away, people in jail for defending their property and their lives at times. i dont know much about law, but it seems fucked up.
what is justice and does it exist ion our minds or in the world in some way??

justice is a human concept, like morals, or "right and wrong"
Nothing will ever satisfy everyone, but with the majority of people being born into a world of similar concepts of right and wrong, justice is an attempt to satisfy the majority... The drawback is that when a minority is upset with the justice handed down, they voice their opinion as a group and become more powerful than the silent majority, and thus laws are changed to satisfy this loud minority, and thus those of the majority are screwed over by the system and we end up with laws that some people believe are right, but the majority don't agree with ie shooting someone on your own property when they break in for attempted murder usually lands you in jail for 'excessive force' although consider the alternative, being murdered, and the attempted-murderer walks free (if you don't kill him) and usually with a large part of your estate for their pain and suffering you caused him
makes me wonder why I haven't moved to an uninhabited island and made my own laws yet

Thing is its all cirumstantial, the people running over kids and walking away thing, yeah its bad if they were drunk driving etc. but what if they were doing 25 in a 30 zone, driving as carefully as they could and some kid steps out from behind a parked car straight into their path. Nothing they can do and if the kid is unlucky and hits its head on the concrete, they could die but I don't reckon the driver should be imprisoned for that, they are going to have to live the rest of their lives with the guilt when it wasn't even their fault, I think that is unfair enough.
Justice is a form of revenge when it comes down to it, it has to exist for society to function correctly. Its not always right but its never going to be is it. I'm sure I wouldn't be saying that if I had been wrongly imprisoned for something I didn't do but there you go.

yo anex,
i agree with what you say about accidents that really are due to misfortune. however i was a little drunk and reading a paper with an article about a 18 year old man who had 10 traffic offences, each worth a ban, who had been speeding around, killed akid on his bike, and went to jail, came out smilingly with another suspended sentence, and drove away in a car. i was in tears. of course the papers show us what they want us to see but it really upset me to see the bloke a.smiling and b. getting back into a car and driving off?justice needs to be in place for society to be upheld in order, but if we have laws like one where if you have been constantly banned for driving and you still drive and kill, then the law must be enforced. if the law as we know it in each of our countries is not a detterent for crime then what is it?loosely followed guidlines for living your life to stay out of jail or the right way to live your life in regard to respecting others.
the sense of justice comes from the idea of equality, of this i am sure. everyone been treated the same, with the same rights. this is not true though of legal law in the united kingdom anyway.

Yeah thats true, like I said, its circumstantial.
Hmmm yeah everyone should be treated the same but everyone knows it doesn't work that way. I reckon stoners should be made judges so they could preach peace to everyone in the court etc and atleast if the judge is a proper stoner, you'll know they aren't gonna judge you on your clothes/hair/accent etc.
