fraser island

Fraser island

I been to an island that is made just of sand,
Still with trees and animals living freely on the land.
On one side of the island you can find shark after shark,
Not an area to go for a dip in the sea in the light or the dark,
Wild dingoes running free round the sandy roads,
Sharing their world with strange coloured freshwater toads.

In the middle of this interesting terrain lies a crystal clear blue lake,
A serene and beautiful piece of natural earth cake.
You can swim in this inland clean pool,
Lovely at 6am at first light with the water nice and cool,
And the sun climbing from its bed into position,
Those first few solar rays shining on you with precision.

The crabs twice daily take over the eastern most beach.
Like a moving black carpet as their homes they aim to reach,
Then theres the other creatures that you might see,
And many interesting plants and different breeds of tree.

I saw a huge lizard eating a possum,
In a bed of wild flowers which had begun to powerfully blossom,
Beauty and horror existing side by side,
I wanted to see the flowers but not the furry ball that had almost died.

A hotel or two on the island exists,
But not yet enough human intervention to spoil, the wilderness there persists,
I love to visit places like this one,
Cos the untouched natural world always offers interest, intrigue and fun.
