Growing outdoors?
I have a bunch of seeds from a good bag of weed I smoked a month ago. Most of the seeds are darkish brown, but a couple are white. I heard white seeds aren't as 'mature' or good or something.
Anyhow, because I live at home with my folks and they would have a freak fest if I grew in the house, but it gave me an idea. What about me germinating the seeds in the house and taking them to the woods nearby and planting them there?
Has anyone ever done this before, or even considered doing it? Think about it, if you get seeds in your weed (which I'm sure some of us have), and you try this out and it works! Free weed!! I have no idea how much weed you can yield from 8 or 10 plants.
I'm not saying this scheme of mine will work. There's always a question of whether the weed will grow.
What I'd like to know from some of the experts here are:
~Would my weed grow in regular forest soil with adequate sunlight?
~Is there a chance that bugs could invade the weed if it grows?
~In my neck of the woods, the temps. from late May to early October range between 15C-25C with an average of 12-14 hours of daylight. Do these conditions seem ideal for outdoor growing?
Does anyone have any tips besides, "Find a secluded spot that gets lots of sunlight."?
From what I've read on the internet, it seems like this could work if the seeds grow.

Planting germinated seeds that have not yet grown into a decent plant very rarely works. You success rate would go up about 90% by planting a plant that it atleast a few inches high. The bigger the better because it is stronger and will be able to deal with mother nature. Not impossible though, just way tougher less chances.
Though I personally have never tried, have heard of the greenhouse thing Gates mentionned working. If you cant grow indoors at all, best bet would be to rig up something like that, until the plants grow a bit.
Your temps seem about like mine here in Quebec. Outdoor planting can be done anywhere from May 25th to June 15th, of course that depending on the temperature. Some years are warmer, so plant earlier, some later. Must be absolutley sure no more temps belowing freezing before planting. You have plently of daylight hours, just make sure you get the most possible direct sunlight hours.
I never plant directly in the forest/field soil. I usually dig a hole about 1 ft wide 1 ft deep and fill it with store bought soil. Sometimes, if I think there may be a water draining off problem, I make a mound of soil, planting into that. Keeps the plant raised off ground level so less problems with it being water logged in rain.
Bugs could definatley invade, so can animals especially deer. Most common where I am from is slugs. That can be solved by placing broken egg shells around the plants base. Commercial products are also sold. There is also a product you spray on so deer wont eat plant...they hate the taste of it.
Tips : 1.Try growing on a slight slope, helps with drainage.
2.Avoid in a valley or bottom of a hill.
3.Check soil quality, watch out for clay and rock . Darker soil is
best.
4. Best to grow near a natural water source so in case of drought
you don't have to cart in your water too far.
5. Don't grow near fruit trees or raspberry plants or you will have
deer problems
6. Fields with trees and bushes are better than thick woods..not
enough sunlight, though it is possible to find a large clearing. But
those targets for helicopter watches, cause they are obvious from
the sky. Woods can give problems with hunters finding plants in
fall too.
The amount of weed yielding from a plant will vary greatly, depending on the plant. The better your grow skills, the more you will get. Will also depend on strain. some beginner growers wind up with a 1ft tall plant, that will give half an ounce, more experienced 8 ft plants that give a pound. for some beginners, the plants may die. Just dont get discouraged by that . Practice makes perfect.
Dark seeds is what ya need
Hope it helps

I just noticed it says you're from Nova Scotia...Gorecore wrote:Wow Higher!! I am thoughroughly inpressed with your help! Thanks a million for your advice.
I'll do my best and see what happens.
I got a question for ya. A few years back I met up with four guys from Nova Scotia. They said mushrooms (the stoner kind) grow like weeds in the fields up there. We were supposed to hook up when they got back home...I was gonna go out there with them..cept they chickened out at the last moment. Was wondering if this was actually true????

Absolutely true!! Well, so I've heard. I've never actually looked for shrooms anywhere, because I've never done them and I wouldn't even know what I was looking for.Weedguru Higher wrote:I got a question for ya. There's a famous fortress located right in the middle of Halifax called Citadel Hill
This place is known for their lawns naturally growing shrooms during a certain time of year. But the government usually hires a crew to spray something on the grass to kill the mushrooms.

i just started a grow at the bottom of this cliff thing behind my house... no one goes there, and my friends brother started tons of plants in his grow box at his house, and they we moved them down there when they were like 6-10 inches high, and theyre doing pretty good now.... i put them on the internet http://farlanplants.myphotoalbum.com/ ... why is it not good to grow at the bottom of a hill or valley, i read somwhere els that all the rich soil gets washed dow.
but im no expert... just a kid who got some free plants
.. my frbother went to ce and stuff and learnde about plants and he got all the diferent nutrients and different soil mixes and stuff

You should avoid bottom of hills because that is where water will accumulate more in a rainstorn. And the plants will wind up water logged. If you live somewhere where it doesn't rain all that much then it shouldn't be a problem though. If you think water might be a problem, just grow the plant on a mound like I said in the above post. To much water is not good for a plant, it will be yellow leaves and could wind up dying or not growing very big.

Ive grown indoors, outdoors and I like outgood natural light natural soil best. More flavor I think, greater potential for what I prefer - huge trees which taste and sticky and green amazing.
Im growning a Trainwreck right now and some Afgan Kush both in the soil and they get about 12 hours of direct sun a day - they grow like a inch a day at least and are just new clones from rockwoll only a few days old. Ive got a legal license to grow and smoke and shop, so its a nice feeling to not be paranoid.

Bay Area, California. I work for a medical pot club, and here the limit for legal growing is 8 mature plants and/or 12 small clones (not "flowering" - so you can have some growing and some budding all the time, legally)A_Fire_Inside wrote:And where abouts are you located?
I had to go to a doctor who speciality is medical pot. I told him about my back pain from a car accident, and primarily that and insomnia. He wrote me a rx for medical marajuana use, which is good for a year. I had to show records that I had been hit by a car, and that I was treated for pain lasting more than just a little while.
This rx I can take into any of the 'cannibus clubs' in CA, and buy weed there if I want. I buy it at work, so I pay even less. I also grow, as I said, so when I have that I dont buy any and generally either give it away to friends as I cant possibly smoke all that pot. A single clone grown indoors in a hydrofarm setup with 430wt bulb for growing and a 400wt for budding gives me growth from 6" clones (about 4$ each at my club) of Trainwreck, Bubblegum, Kush, Purple, Northern Lights, etc etc etc. to budding stage with about 4+ oz of prime buds on each plant in about 3 to 4 months. 3 harvests a year is conservative. If I used CO2 and pushed it a bit more I could certainly harvest 4x a year. Plus I grow outdoors on my balcony as well.
Its nice being legal. I highly reccomend it to anyone in CA or the other 10 states which allow medical pot.
