Have you ever met that funny refer man?

A new study published in Nature Reviews-Cancer provides an historic and detailed explanation about how THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells.
The study by Manuel Guzmán of Madrid Spain found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor.
The Guzman study is very important according to Dr. Ethan Russo , a neurologist and world authority on medical cannabis: "Cancer occurs because cells become immortalized; they fail to heed normal signals to turn off growth. A normal function of remodelling in the body requires that cells die on cue. This is called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. That process fails to work in tumors. THC promotes its reappearance so that gliomas, leukemias, melanomas and other cell types will in fact heed the signals, stop dividing, and die."
"But, that is not all," explains Dr. Russo: "The other way that tumors grow is by ensuring that they are nourished: they send out signals to promote angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels. Cannabinoids turn off these signals as well. It is truly incredible, and elegant."
In other words, this article explains several ways in which cannabinoids might be used to fight cancer, and, as the article says, "Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies.
Hmmmm..... I wonder if simply smoking a lot of weed will allow these cannabinoids to do their work? I think they would need to find a safer and more potent way to get the cannabinoids into the system. I know my big brother smoked weed every day since he was 10 years old, and he still died of Leukemia.
Interesting study, though. Too bad it won't get more play. Just think, if they would allow scientists to synthesize cannabiboids and apply them to cancers with healing results, our beloved Mary Jane would be revered and respected by society at last....
"Now we are just beginning to realize that while marijuana has never killed anyone, marijuana prohibition has killed millions. "

This is a link on that same page that sais the THC was injected into rats...
http://americanmarijuana.org/pot.shrinks.tumors.html
...so you can go right the fuck ahead and shoot a smokable drug in your arm.
Further down the page it sais that pharmacies tried to invent "synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the "high." (Im all for curing cancer, dont get me wrong) but if the media does ever introduce the idea, then"synthetic marijuana" might become a real thing and ruin what budz are today.
So in the meantime...shutup and smoke a joint.

That could be true but I would never give up smoking just to shoot the shit in my arm. And anywayz so many people are afraid of needles it aint even funny. If you wanna shoot something look to heroin(ok not that I'm suggesting that you do heroin I'm just saying). I would prefer smokin and I think so would most people (am i wrong?). And anywayz it would be hard to get, at least for a while. What would happen to the whole smoking lifestyle? No one would have bongs pipes anything....YEA RIGHT!!!!!!I dont think thats gunna happen...like ever. I mean people have been smokin weed for how long? I honestly dont think people would resort to that thats all I'm saying.

If that whole story isn't a load of crap then our people need to get off their asses and LEGALIZE CANNABIS. Seriously, how could anyone read something like that and not want weed to be legal. And why would you quit smoking it to start shooting it up? If you were doing pot intravenously(sp?) for chemotherapy it wouldn't be any different than the other IV drugs they give you. And we all know people recovering from chemo like to smoke a little weed now and then, to rid the nausea. So just smoke and inject.
