Wish me luck!

Post by Gorecore »

As some of you know, I've been unemployed for almost 2 weeks. I really hate not having a job because as much as I hate it, money is important and makes life easier and more enjoyable.

Plus, I really dislike not working. I enjoy having some sort of purpose and reasoning to get out of bed in the mornings.

Anyhow...

I received a call today from Forbes Chev Olds today and they want me for a job interview tomorrow at 11:15 am. I'm really excited and nervous about this job. What I am looking for is a career, and not just a job. I'm 30 and tired of bouncing from one meaningless job to the other.

The job is selling new and used cars. I've worked in many different sales positions over the years and I enjoy interacting with people and making them happy with their purchases.

The only real reason I am nervous is the interview is going to be conducted by 3 people, plus myself. I've usually only done interviews one on one with people.

Does anyone have any advice or strategies for me tomorrow to ensure that I can get this job? I already have a nice pair of pants, a really nice shirt and a nice tie to wear, so I'm set there. I think what I'm going to do is call up a friend of the family tonight and talk with him. He's been selling cars for about 5 years now, and hopefully he'd have some advice for me.

I feel pretty confident that I'll do well. I'm a nice, outgoing person with the gift of gab. My communications skills are excellent and so are my listening skills.

Anyhow, wish me luck tomorrow. Think of me at 11:15 AM Atlantic time and spark up a bowl/joint/whatever in my honor and keep your fingers crossed.

Good luck, although you probably won't need it! There probably aren't a lot of people competeing against you for this job, and of those that are, I bet none of them have your passion and would do as good of a job as you, which makes you a shoe-in. Also, it's been my experience that getting them to call you for the interview is a lot harder than getting them to hire you. You're halfway there! Just make sure you act confident, and shave! (Shave it all).

Oh yeah, I think you're on the right track by talking to someone in the field - anticipate their questions!

"So, Mr. Gorecore, tell us about a time when you talked someone into buying something they really couldn't afford...."

I worked in a shitty sales job where someone took pride in doing something like this, fucking wanker, if i saw him now i think i'd smack him. (not just because of that, because he told me the job wasn't paid on commision when it was which i only found out on the first day.)

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.
