I have really been thinking, largely due to my phsycology class, but you know how in today's society that people who hear voices are considered crazy (like schizophrenics) but when you read the bible everyone said that they heard god talking to them. I mean were they schizophrenic? you know you really have to consider it, look at Joan of Arc as well. i mean i guess you would draw the conclusions based on your religious beliefs, but i mean damn that makes me think. just my two sense.

ps. the movie was funny. the dude holds up a sign that says Jay Leno then they shoot a zombie that is spose to be Jay Leno. Then Burt Reynolds. haha

Meh. We had to discuss this topic extensively in my ethics class. You could read Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling, though I really don't recommend it. He basically says that people, like Abraham, who get explicit instructions from God, may be called crazy, but actually these people are outside of an ethical system, and have true faith.
Who can bear it? Would not his contemporary age, if we can speak of such a thing, have said of him, "Abraham is eternally procrastinating. Finally he gets a son. That took long enough. Now he wants to sacrifice him. So is he not mad? And if at least he could explain why he wants to do it -- but he always says that it is a trial." Nor could Abraham explain more, for his life is like a book placed under a divine attachment and which never becomes publici juris.
