England football team
having just watched the 2-0 victory over the welsh I feel compelled to write something positive about the team. For years they have been a little off the other top teams in the world who i would say are italy, france, brazil. However now there is a team of real world class quality developing..
goalkeepers-
im so happy that david james has finally lost top spot, he is really big and a good shot stopper but he fucks up so much on crosses, i really dont understand why he has been in goal for so long. Paul robinson is young, big, strong with wicked keeper skills.
defenders--
i prefer to see sol campbell and terry/King as i am not a big fan of rios. He is good on the ball and good with his tackling but he lacks something that both terry and king offer which is bravery and determination. gary neville is the weakest player on the pitcch but we havent really got a world class right back. ashley cole is growing instature everyt ime he plays and waybe bridge is a worthy competitor for the left side of defence. we are very strong with terry, king, campbell(even soutgate could fit in ).
midfield-
gerarrd when fit is unstoppable ,his passing, shooting, tenacity make him danger throughout the game. Beckham has alwas been on the best players in the world for me. He can pass the ball like few other players can, hitting a 50 yard curling through ball with pinpoint accuracy. His free kicks and general technical ability on the ball are superb. I have noticed the last year or so that he has been becoming alot more tigerish, as a captain should be. he gets some silly yellow cards but remanins our best playmaker in general. lampard continues to impress for both club and country, butt is solid in front of the defence. shaun wright phillips is an exlposive little character with unbelievable pace and shooting skills for someone so young and small. joe cole offers abit of trickery and vision but still tries to do too much, again needs to mature a touch.
attack-
rooney, perhaps growing into the most talented footballer in the world. every game he plays he is like magic, passing players with ease and creating space to shoot with hawk like precision. defoe has huge potential but needs to develop more before been an automatic starter. owen is in some strange form after his move to madrid, but he will always score goals cos he keeps on making chance after chance. also lightning quick as is rooney and also defoe and wright phillips. alan smith offers the strength in the air coupled with great technique in or around the area.
my team-
robinson
neville terry campbell cole
gerrard
beckham saun wright phillips
rooney
smith owen
(i know saun wright phillips is right footed but he has so much skill he would damage any team on either flank)

ye we played pretty well, it was nice to see us pass the ball about when we were 1-0 up rarther than just hoof it aimlessly forward to our talented but psyicly small strikers. rooney was brilliant yet again, and it was pretty comfertable apart from a couple of 10 miniut spells when wales passed it nicely. im doing somecourse work on the game 2morrow, doubt if i'd felt up to it if we hadnt won!
ei ei ei ei ohh, up the football league we go!

i watched the france ireland game and was unimpressed with both teams. I found wales a re more inventive opponent in tersm of movement and passing. so much of talk of france in decline but any team that suddenly loses both thuram and zidane(also desailly and lizrazu)would suffer somewhat.they are two of the greatest players in the world. we must also remember that viera wasnt playing and neither was giuly or trezequet. im sure the french team can still be a formidibale outfit.
it is fair to say that our strike force is very small though rooney does punch a few classes above his weight for a small lad and he is not easy to muscle off the ball. but this issue i think should be resolved by employing alan smith as he is quality ion the air. a front three of owen, smith and rooney would be superb...

Re: England football team
My problem is with beckham yes he has to play but as i could see for the england wales match he moved a good few times to a central mid-field role like he does for real madrid and from all that when england play a quality side they will have empty space left by becks on the right of mid-field

No he means football. We invented the game, we get to name it. Plus you actually kick the ball with your foot instead of throwing itIrrylath wrote:football? oooohhh....you mean soccer....

I agree with smith and rooney but i feel that owen is starting to fall behind as all the younger stikers are coming into the game.weedguru_animal wrote:front three of owen, smith and rooney would be superb...

There is no way in hell Terry is better than rio, Rio is a commanding player and that is what we need. Terry is heavy but he is so fuking slow and quit. Gary neville is the most consistant right back we have he is one the best in the prmiership if no the best. good call on james tho. FUCK OWEN!!!! HE IS BY FAR THE WORST STRIKER WE HAVE!!!
this would be my line up:
Robinson
Gary Neville Rio Ferdinand Sol Campbell Ashley Cole
Steven Gerrard
David Beckham Wayne bridge
Wayne Rooney
Jermain Defoe
Alan Smith
Subs:
Green
Lampard
King
Vassel
Hargreaves
