The bowl

Im making my first homemade bong, out of a combination of things lying around the house and stolen from my chemistry class. I've read several tutorials on how to make them, including the one here, but one bit that seems to be overlooked is the bowl where the hash goes. From what I understand its basically a socket from a socket set, with some gauze in the bottom. The socket I've got is like 1cm wide at most, so its pretty small, and its hard to get a small enough piece of gauze in it (I would use a bigger one, but the bigger sockets seem to be solid metal so they wouldn't let the smoke through). So my Q is should that be fine, or do I need something bigger? Sorry this sounds a bit of a newbie question, its probably just a one-off as I'm in school and don't wanna make a habit of smoking weed.

In case you were wondering, my other ingredients are a 500ml bottle, and some rubber tubing (the kind that's on Bunsen Burners) that the socket fits into perfectly.

i think your socket needs to be wider and has to have a hole at each end.

The fucking easiest way to make a cone is to get a can of coke, cut the endo off, roll out the alluminium sheet, then cut out a circle about 3 - 5 cm in diameter (length), cut halfway into the circle, roll it in to the shape of a funnel, then cut the bottom off. It's hell strong and can be rolled to fit in any tube

just get some foil and make it a bowl shape pop it in the pipe and fold the edges back around the out side of the pipe at the top, put tape around the foil thats around the top, pit pin holes in it, best making the foil folded over 2-3 times makes it stronger, jet your gear in, hold the trigger n pull liek a bitch =]

ive used that little button thing that holds the strap onto a guitar for a bowl on a homemade pipe, it was ok, you cant smoke alot though

i don't know what you would use it for (other than a bowl) or why they would have it, but i was strolling through my local hardware store looking for bong materials and i found the perfect pipe and bowl. It was a brass bowl like 3/4 of an inch wide and deep, was threaded at the bottom so you can screw it into a pipe witch was also threaded. the pipe was too long, but i just shortened it with a hacksaw.
