What EXACTLY are the Laws in Amsterdam?

Is it legal to smoke weed there? Like could you be blazing in front of a Cop and not even be given a ticket or something? Is it sold in stores? Is this the same for harder drugs?
I ask this because my friend is going there this summer and chances are I could go if I get the job I just been interviewed for and just save a couple hundred bucks every month till then.[/b]

Weed is only legal in certain "brown" cafes in Amsterdam, where they will sell u it. Smoking it in public is still illegal. Hard drugs are also still illegal.

u can only smoke in the coffee shops which is buy and smoke on the premises. no u cannot buy weed in the supermarket. basically its like if u see sum1 smoking weed or rollin it shuld be ok 4 u to roll up hope this helps.

No drugs are legal in holland, including weed but the police have turned a blind eye to it for so long now that it is as good as- I'd have thought most of their tourist revenue comes from ppl going to smoke but they were cracking down a bit last year but not hard I don't think. Maybe something to do with the afghasnistan being bombed or something.

i used some last week in my yoda bong, and it had the same effect as water, only this made my beloved bong taste like shit.

same here, if i wanted to right now i could skin up a foot long spark it, say so long mother and walk straight into the centre of town, as long as a cop doesn't notice which is almost certain i will be fine...but i'd rather smoke it here
