Flaming bowls

a little while ago, me and my friend were out of pot and decided to scrape our bowls for resin.
i know alot about scraping bowls and resin, since im frequently out of pot and frequently find myslef scraping.
i know that if the resins warm, it comes off easier and in bigger chunks. since the bowls were in the cold car for days, it was crusty and crumbly.
me and my friend decided to microwave them to make the resin soft. (these are glass bowls by the way, so they should be microwave safe)
after about ten seconds a flame about 5 inches high shoots out of the bowl of my bowl,
so i turned off the microwave.
WHY would resin do thaT?

i don't know, seems quite odd. Then again, microwaves tend to be a bit spontaneous at times. You should have just heated up the glass with a flame anyway, much simpler.
You did take the mesh out of the bowl before you nuked it yeah?

yeah, if there was ANY tinfoil, or any residue of tinfoil, it oculd have done that.

the only time flames have shot out of something is when my microwaved some this cake. maybe there is cake in ur pipe. haha that reminds me of a story.
we were scraping for resin and my friend is scraping. and i look on the floor where we had been smoking and there is this little peice of what looks to be resin on the floor and im like holy shit! so i pack it in the bowl and im about to smoke and i look at it and it doesnt look quite right. the color didnt look right and it was all puffy like an aero bar. so i give it to my other friend to smoke and without even questioning it he puts the bong to his mouth and starts to smoke and when we all realise i go to him "dude ur smoking cake!"
it was cake. what a twist.

Because most viscous substances catch fire when microwaved.

okay first, trance, mad cool sig pic.. and second.. i've never had a problem with this.. sometimes the resin buildup is so much that the bowl stays lit around the bud..
also.. dont trust microwaves
and how much of a stoner are you, so lazy that you microwave your bowl!!! bah!

you put it in the microwave? way to go Einstein.
No seriously microwaves are meant for COOKING FOOD. Food absorbs the microwaves radiation and makes it safe to eat and use the microwave, anything else the radiation will just move around the microwave and possibly leak out which would suck. Putting anything else in there is either 1. dangerous 2. useless, or 3. un-smart.
So did you scrape the pipe, put the resin in the bowl of your pipe, and then put it in the microwave.... Or just put it in the microwave to heat it up and make it easier to scrape?

i tryed mcrowaving one of those posicles in a tube. And it shot lightning bolts. SCared the shit outta me.yea heat all around the bowl even the bottom. I've actually scraped resin out of my friends glass bowl after i put it in between a grate on the stove on which a pot would stand. Worked perfect but use a hot pad to pick it up
