I don't listen to his stuff normally, but my brother who's a guitarist is really inspired by Joe Satriani and has a bunch of his albums, and that guy fucking wails on the guitar. Seriously, he's amazing.

I dug up this topic because I recently bought a dvd with Steve Vai, John Petrucci, and Joe Satriani, guest featuring Mike Portnoy on drums. Satriani is a fuckin musical genius. It's like he's having sex with the guitar when he plays.. 8)
