Why those artists should shut the fuck up about filesharing
Okay, so many artists are complaining about filesharing taking away their income. Fuck you, music shouldn't even be about the money. Sure, you need to make a living off it, but don't you think 20 million dollars is a little too much for a cd that probably sucks anyway? Take Metallica. They've made millions of dollars already, and now they're complaining! SHUT THE FUCK UP, Lars Ulrich. You're a rich motherfucker.
Do you think $25 dollars for a cd is a fair price? Fuck no. And until cd prices drop, I will continue to download music off Kazaa. I will continue to 'steal' money from rich bastards that are only in it to make as much money as possible. If I buy cds, I only buy cds from artists that a) I respect for making music not for the money, but to entertain me and bring me joy, and b) from people that aren't already swimming in $1000 bills.

I agree! Did you know it costs roughly $1 to make a CD? (at least thats what i saw on the news a couple years ago). If an artist can make pure profit off of one CD and end up making millions then they can damn sure afford for a few people to download their music for free.
Besides, when you watch their interveiws and stuff on tv they're always like "I'm just doing it for the music. I want my music to be heard" Then they go around complaining about people downoading it for free. Well, shit! Isnt that what you wanted, rockstar? For people to hear your music? If you want more effing money, watch what you wish for, bia!
However, I gotta give mad props to Madonna. She put her own CD up for people to be able to download it for free since the economy is doing shitty right now. Her publicist walked in and was like "What the fuck are you doing??" and she goes, "What the fuck does it look like I'm doing?" Hell yeah, Madonna!

i don't remember where i heard this, so i don't know how accurate it is... but i heard that she set it up so that if you tried to download anything off her new album you'd get a messge of her saying "what the fuck are you doing?".

I agree with what you're saying, but why did you have to make it MetallicA you used as an example... they're just defending their copyright laws or whatever they are, they have a right to complain, it hasn't stopped me from getting every single vid clip they've made that I don't own on dvd or videoweedguru_funk_doctor wrote:Take Metallica. personally, I hope that file-sharing is still around when we make our first cd, the band's decided to release a song or two on the net before we finalise the cd so we get feedback and see what people think
I've gone to find myself, if I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait

i think file sharing is amazing... i mean not everyone has a burner... make having a burner illegal... thats what artists should complain about... if theres a new band out how do people listen to them? they download one of their songs... if they like it they download more and then if they think the band is good they buy their cd... i download a lot of music.... and i burn the cd... now if i didnt have a burner i would have to buy the cd... which is why i say they are fighting against the wrong thing in the first place... and most artists make enough anyway... and i think file sharing is what brings the other artists from not having money to going double platinum and getting millions of dollars...

Because they're the perfect example. Lars Ulrich was the one that got Napster to charge for music, i.e. he got Napster reduced to a program that hardly anyone uses.Born of Fire wrote:I agree with what you're saying, but why did you have to make it MetallicA you used as an example... they're just defending their copyright laws or whatever they are, they have a right to complain, it hasn't stopped me from getting every single vid clip they've made that I don't own on dvd or videoweedguru_funk_doctor wrote:Take Metallica. HELL NO! So, how am i supposed to transer files, not music, but lets sa..large web server files bigger then a disk, but can fit on a CD? Or, if i want to reburn a copy of a CD i own because i wore it out? or, i deside to make my own mix of songs from CD's i own. But, i do agree with your last statement. =]

*ur so mean to me...* :P ya but howi see it... without a cd burner i have to stay in the computer room to listen to the music... and i have stuff to do.... and i think its like that for a lot of people... so thats where artists are losing money... when we burn a cd instead of buying it... and that why artists should concentrate on cd burners for a minute rather then getting angry with kazaa napster etc

yeah, i dont see why the go after Napster, Kazaa, Morpheus etc... the people who made the programs have disclamers stating they have no control over what people will share. That and there is no law saying you arn't allowed to share files over a world-wide network. Its a very sticky situation...
