we are doing this essay in english where we have to pick out a piece of modern art and write a descriptive essay on it.
i liked listening to captain beefheart, and when i heard he had an artisitc side, i jumped at the chance.
so, heres the piece of art im going with...
so far, im going with the themes of chaos, death (sickle in bottom right) and prolly gonna talk about the colors used. so if you guys could bounce some ideas off me that would be great.

I don't know jack shit about analyzing artwork.
Lemme go smoke a bowl and I'll tell you what I see...
...
...
...
It looks like something you'd see on the walls of a cave. The yellow could represent fire. The red kind of looks like blood. There also looks like people dancing. Oh, and the scythe or sickle.

it looks like that donnie darko bunny thing ridding a yellow pig.
gore, it does look like a cave painting or something. very minimalistic as far as detail goes
in the upper right hand corner i see a woman rolling out some dough.
and in the upper left is see a man with a sword who swung at another man, decapitating him and cutting his arm off. theyre like stick figure dudes.

that yellow does strike me as fire, and in essence fire is life, so it contrasts the scythe. it does stick out of the fire though, so that could be interpreted as death coming from life (cycle of life kind of thing) tying in with the "cave art" style it really seems to me like you have the themes down but for me it also means alot about the cycle of life, not just death

i like the whole idea idea of death coming from life. after all, you cant have death without life.

it looks like theres a stick figure in a cave worshipping a dead golden pig, and eaither the pig is on fire or his soul is coming out of him and floating upwards, the sycthe is laying there to show that the pig was recently killed (the blood) then i have no fucking idea what the stuff on the cave wall behind the caveman is, but towards the right upper side is the outside area, out there you can see grounds and hills and there is a small stick figure throwing birds, or stuff, or something into a river of blood... i cant tell whats past the stick man throwing stuff, maybe a house? idn.. and the thing to the right of the outside veiw, looks like a giant person bending over looking at his pink stomach.., maybe he was trying to draw like tribalism or like i have no fucking idea what the hell im talking about so im just gonna stop now before i make an idiot of myself..

in the middles towards the upper right i see a red slipper, like in Wizard of Oz, and then i see a mad swordfish to the right of it

its bugs bunny riding a yellow boar away from a battle carrying a scythe.
he also got wounded, you can tell from the intense amount of blood pouring from his back.

i see the top half of the artwork being something about uncertainty or passion.
and yeah at the bottom it looks like a rabbit humping a yellow alligator or something, cant help ya there

I see, an extremely drunk painter who tried to draw human on a smiley day but couldn't figure out how to draw a strait line, and also an animal riding another animal while trying to eat food.
