Does anybody have any experience with PhpBB mod installing?

I've been asking around on a web development forum and the guys over there gave me some links to anti-spam mods, the only problem is I know jack shit about websites, let alone installing mods on them.

So does anybody have any experience concerning this?

Everybody's getting sick and tired of these lame ass spambots flooding the forum, which is understandable. And I don't feel like seeing my favorite forum bleed dry just 'cause of members getting fed up with it.

So yeah, let me know

and can a mod make this a sticky or something so people actually get a chance to read it before the spam causes this topic to go down the page/onto the second page? Thx

I used to know but I haven't been an admin to a site for about a year, but it's pretty much just droppin the files in the right folder once you've downloaded it.

Well the guys that gave me the information said I might have to change some tables, but hell I don't know anything about those sort of things :)

I used to admin a phpBB, installing mods is easy. You have to have complete administration privileges over the entire site so you can edit the MySQL tables and you might have to edit some of the existing phpBB files.

Indeed I am competent using EASYMOD to install Mods onto the forum coding. However, when it comes to instructions like:
find <>:P{IOOGGGJUHFFGOOGOOOGAAGAAGAAGOOOGOOGAAAAAAVVGG<NBFVVBBND65645344<><><><""{{}}}
replace GOO with GOOG
yeh, that kinda shit, repeated a million times with only a minor alteration in each Order...well that business not only confuses me but seems like as alien to my natural abilities and desires as fucking a teapot that has just reached the boil.

Unfortunately, due to my haphazard approach to maintaining records of important passwords in my head, I have lost the EASYMOD password. So while I have downloaded a few ANTI Spam MODS , uploaded them to the weedguru folder and attempted to install using the layman EASYmod routine, I have been blocked, rebuffed and warned about my inaccuracy by the EASYMod program itself. I got so angry last time that I investigated how to find this password in the HTML database...I tried, but failed miserably to locate such a passage. Next on the agenda would logically be to re install EASYMod. But my mind is screaming to me, whenever that thought nears action, 'but without the ease of EASYMod, how the hel do you think you are going to install EASYMod, fucko??'.....And for now, I will leave it there.. Sweet dreams people...Glad we got that sorted..or did we!!

I have alot of experience with phpBB. Ive been a webmaster for RagnarokOnline private servers for over 4 years. I can also code php, and MOD installing is fairly simple. ^^ What exactly is it that needs installing? I could make a .rar with everything youd need in it, including a step-by-step tutorial.

We need an anti spammer mod or something ,the place is getting flooded, well it's been a bit better lately but still...

Only issue atm is that we lost the MOD install section password :p

o.o, the head administrator should be able to reset it ^^, or you could go into your MySQL database and manually reset it. As for the anti-spammer, that one is simple, make it so that people require email activation of their accounts before joining the forums, also, image verification would help, and if you do see a spammer, note their ip and ban their ip, if its the same IP Range, just ban the IP Range o.o but their is never a way to tell who is and who isnt a malicious user. So making an anti-spammer mod is practically impossible. But, as I said before, you can take precautions to prevent spammers from coming here.
