So confused...

Okay. I'm starting to get real confused. My grandparents used to smoke alot. And they've been telling me all kinds of stuff now im kinda lost on whats true and false. They told me that weed didn't need to absorb THC for cooking or whatever. They are also telling me that todays weed was nothing like it used to be. And my grandpa is trying to tell me that part of the buzz is the smoke taking away oxygen from the brain. I'm starting to think that they really have no clue what there talking about. There still in the 60's and not knowing anything really. I'm thinking maybe thats why they dont care for cooking it is because they didn't do it right.

I've heard weed needs to have the THC absorbed into fat/oil to cook. I've also heard that weed today may be stronger then ti was 30 years ago. And i've did duster and shit, and i know damn well Weed feels nothing like that. So wtf are they just unknowing, or is what they say true.

It's not a common misconception, at least not down here.

THC values on bud have increased, the potency of the herb being grown now is way higher than it ever was at the time our parents/grandparents might have smoked.

I'll try to find the article about it in English!

sure its "stronger" than 40 years ago, i mean, look up a random seed shop and youll get countless different strains.

weed could be better in the sixties tho, taste and organice-wise

Yea, I'm sure genetics have surely advanced since the sixties or whatever. I mean nowadays, we have all different kinds of fertilizers for different kinds of plants and whatnot. I think it's common sense to believe that weed and any plant is better today than it was in the past.

yeah well, but it was all organic then, now its lights, fertilizer, hydro set-ups and so on. then it was just a natural thing, i think the weed tastes way better in the sixties

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it was better. Sure, some of the people out there could've found a great outdoor spot to grow weed, but with hydroponics, you can set up an artificial environment that's perfect for growing weed. Perfect conditions = perfect bud, or something that's pretty damn close. Of course a lot of growing has to do with luck and all that, but when you grow in that kind of environment, you have a higher success rate.

THC is the active drug in canabis (well, theres a couple of different canabinoids that create different feelings of high, this is why why some breeds produce a different feelings high, its cos of the mix of these)
THC, whicheva one, must b absorbed for cooking, or it must be present in the food.
as for the bux of there being no oxygen in ur brain, this is true, smoking anything will give u a small buzz cos of their being no oxygen in ur brain (well, not none, but a hell ofa lot less) (this is also why some people think pipe resin is powerful stuff... but its really just a bad enough smoke to make a larger effect than smoke usualy would)
as for taste n that, weed was alot weaker back then, sure that prolly effects the taste, n it is prolly a matter of opinion ifiti was better or not, but nowadays its a hell ofa lot more powerful cos we kno more cultivation techniques and such

yup, but with hydrophonics/big grow ups, its really really hard to get the right amount of light, and especcially nutritions. back then it was all natural so the taste must have been better...... i think

You would've had to been there. Personally I think that good bud back then would've been like todays schwag.

And another misconception that a whole fuckload of stoners have is that natural/organic=better. The answer is no, not necessarily.

Don't do that shit. It's like playing russian roulette. A friend of mine died doing it her first time.

Nowadays growers boost their plants with all kinds of stuff they didnt use back in the day.

They became aware that they could influence the amount of THC the plants would grow, so now that they mastered the 'technology' behind it they just try to grow more and more potent weed, thats why pot these days is stronger then, say in the sixties.
