Rolling Joints

I've smoked plenty before, but mostly in bowls and stuff ... I've never smoked a joint before. Well my friend rolled two for me and I have a couple of questions ... on the joints, there's a little bit of extra paper left on the end where you light it and I was wondering if that's supposed to be there or if I should cut it off. Also, at the other end, the ends are pinched and I don't know how the stuff is supposed to get through if its pinched shut.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Those are my main questions, but I have a few more (sorry so many!) ... when you smoke a joint, if you're high before you finish one, can you put it out and then light it again, or what's left of it, later? And this might sound really stupid, but does it stay lit like a cigarette and you just smoke it and can like, put it down and then smoke it again, or do you have to light it and inhale each time like from a bowl?
Sorry if I'm not making any sense, but please help. Thanks! =]

To answer your questions,
1) That little bit of paper on the end of the joint is most likely a result of weed falling out of the tip as you were rolling it, which isn't a big problem, however I recommend cutting it off before you spark up, to avoid getting a hit of pure paper.
2) Yeah, the other end of the joint, the end you suck through, is pinched shut, but remember that air as well as smoke are made up of minuscule particles which can easily permeate a space much smaller than can be seen by the naked eye. If the joint is well rolled, the hole on the end you smoke from should be just tight enough to hold back the actual physical bud from sucking into your mouth, and you should have no problem inhaling a nice full hit of reefer.
3) Yes, if you are already high enough to make you happy, you can put your joint out, and smoke the rest later.
4) It stays lit like a cigarette, for a certain amount of time. However the fuse is much shorter than that on a cigarette, as a cigarette will burn to the filter regardless of whether or not you smoke it, while a joint will stifle itself out after about half a minute.
Hope this helps

So you like, continually re-light it when it burns out?

If you keep puffin on the joint, then it won't go out unless it was poorly made and falls apart. Just make make sure not to get the paper wet though

^^^ Amen. we call that *censor* lipping it out here. Thats no fun, smoking a wet roach. and gross too. Yeah if a J is rolled well it wont go out. You actually might have another problem, which is that it will start getting close to the end and you have to use a roach clip to not burn yourself.

Or you could just smoke it in a bowl.
Anyway, smokin a roll is slightly different than smokin from a bowl. Make sure to quickly suck in some fresh air after you've taken a couple puffs to "push" the smoke down into your lungs, otherwise you won't get very high. Also, try rotatin the roll every puff or 2 so that it won't burn on just one side. Otherwise, the cherry (the lit part) might fall out and ruin a perfectly nice smoke.

yeah just cut it or burn in off... depends how big it is

easy and much more convinient way to prevent this is to use a cardboard roach... cut a small cardboard strip... roll it up tight so it becomes a cylinder... will shape nicely like a filter but wont act as one...

haha never ever stop smoking a joint!!! EVER! send it here and i will smoke the rest for u

little bit longer... but still.. blaze it continuously... will make for a much nicer high

Bumsucking! its horrible.
But the concept of re sparking a half smoked joint is horrible, it tastes all stale and old.

There's joint holders you can buy if you don't finish joints in one go. I've got a couple of them, they're really handy. They become a bit smelly after a while though.
