Took a month off from weed

So I started smoking my senior year of high school, and I absolutely loved it. I never had a bad thought or tense moment while high. I kept smoking once or twice a week through the summer, and then I went off to college, where I smoked probably weekly through the first semester, and then ever since second semester I started smoking daily, and eventually 3-4 times a day. I'm now a sophomore and it's my second semester, and up till a month ago, I was smoking pretty much daily. Since this past summer I started getting extremely anxious and scared while high, having to grab my chest and busy myself to make sure I wouldn't have a heart attack, if that makes sense. After a while, I got sick of constantly checking my pulse while high, worrying about having a bad panic attack. I started smoking only a few times a week, and usually only a hit or 2, and that still was enough not to give me a fullblown panic attack, but to give me quite a bit of anxiety. Long story short, I quit about a month ago. I'd like to take a rip sometime soon; you guys think that waiting a month has sort of cleared my head and made me aready to smoke again? If I do smoke again, it will probably only be once every week or so, and never a full bowl or a joint. Or will taking that first hit send me into a bad anxiety attack because my tolerance is so low? Does anyone have a similar story to mine?

Chill out dude, put on some tunes, and relaaaax. Dont worry or get concerned at ANYTIME...its a slippery slope when youre stoned. So just relax, make sure everything is confortable for you, maybe do it at another place?

It's just not that easy. I've always had an anxious mind, and when I first started puffin I had this incredibly relaxed euphoria, even when I wasn't smoking. But that eventually wore off, and I'm hoping cutting down drastically will by bring my head back where it needs to be. I definitely won't smoke at college anymore--too much chance of getting caught. Smoking at home is always better--I got the type of parents that are so cool you'd rather chill at home with them and drink all night than go out with people your own age haha.

Anyway, I'm just looking for some advice from someone whose got an anxious mind and is prone to panic attacks.

Just make sure u have plenty of time for a good session.

make sure u are with people you are very comfortable with

make sure u are relaxed beforehand

make sure u have a drink for a little cottonmouth

make sure u are somewhere comfortable....preferably someones house or apt

if the environment around you and ur personal environment are relaxed, you will be perfectly fine assuming you are relaxed before u start tokin

just relax man you're fine

Good friends, as Chris said: do it at a comfortable place.

have lots of soda's or any other refreshing beverages at arms reach, put on your favorite chilled out music and just take your time.

Lots of time, light up, take a few puffs, chat a bit with mates while you put the joint/bowl whatever aside and after a while pick it back up and take another puff. I do that all the time and it's so fucking funny when you get so caught up in a conversation that you completely forget you still had a joint waiting for you  I get so happy when I notice the ashtray with my joint in it :p

i used to get parinoid sometimes like that when i smoke by myself. are you freaking out by yourself or are you with people? I definitley think its better to smoke with people and with something to occupy your mind...like videogames or a movie

I did, and still do, suffer anxiety/panic attacks (yesterday evening in fact) and take medication for this. The trick is to not even begin to think about what might happen if you smoke, and just relax. For me at least, like 80% of my anxiety starts from this anticipatory anxiety. The feelings of heart attacks and panic and shit is all in your mind because you obviously haven't died yet. Also I would try to stay away from caffeine while you smoke if you are prone to get all jittery and anxious like me.. nice job btw with that month break, i might be in for an extended break here too soon! Anyways, hope you can still enjoy the green!!

Hey guys,
Well I went home last weekend and took a couple good rips and it felt like the old days agin :) I had two "profound-tasting" bowls of vanilla ice cream and watched The Legend of Sleep Hollow. I'm definitely gonna keep it a weekly thing--save my money and my brain. Anyway, thanks for the replies. :D

I kinda stopped smoking weed for awhile, I think it did some good. I smoke everyday now but in much smaller amounts. Seriously just relax.

Glad it worked out for you! :D

I'm going to smoke my final bowl for at least a week today. The jar i keep my weed in was like coated in crystals and real real fine green stuff... Its been building up through almost a half O. It should be amazing
