A strange approach I suppose ,writing poems to strangers,
A path that may lose valued customers and is pitted with dangers.
3 years away from this country and much has changed,
this town seems strange and many people deranged.
I goto a club and see the dancing then the grabbing,
the caveman approach in which I’m not interested in dabbling.
Which is partly why I suppose, that I have chosen to write,
And attempt to deliver words rather than lechery to nice people who catch my sight.
Maybe I have seen the film Roxanne one too many times,
That would explain why I think that someone might like my rhymes.
I see warmth and kindness in your sparkling eyes,
Combined with elflike beauty its no surprise,
That you cast, in my stomach, butterflies.
Like a school of dolphins playing in the Indian sea,
Or baby macaque monkeys yapping in mayan tree.
Maybe the water around ko phi phi so beautifully blue,
I suspect that these things could be compared to you.
Anyway I’ve moved away from fish rhymes too much without knowing if I am causing a nuisance by what you read,
Just tell me you are married, in a relationship or a lesbian, and I will take heed.
I like to live my life to lots of music almost a perpetual soundtrack,
I love listening to my headphones real loud in a storm, dressed in a mack.
Most of my tunes are emotive and make me think,
Not poor stuff that to like, you must have a drink.
Travelling to foreign places where the nearest tv is afar,
And seeing how clear the sky is and noticing every star.
Im learning Italian and studying a bit of philosophy,
My goals are a fastbike, a good lady and the sun and the sea.
Sorry if I have intruded on your shopping experience,
Im just a bored fishmonger who likes to make comments.
Well National poetry week has now ended,
So my creative rambling must be suspended.
I hope that from what I have written you are not annoyed,
And that you dont see the colourful ice world as a place to avoid.
That would probably make me laugh a bit,
But also question the social signals that I emit.
I think this form of communication is cool and you look like an elf,
And if we you haven’t like my poems the non-fishmonger side of me will keep himself to himself.
Maybe my judgement is poor and youre not nice but mean
But its cool to see a pretty girl wearing blue and green
You don’t need make up and shine like a star when in the store,
As you can see it would be easy for me to write some more.
Anyway keep buying fish because its good for you,
And if youd like more poetry, just ask me, I will do
i gave this poem to a customer, anyway she never came back so there wil be apoetic ,apathetic followup perhaps.

she has come back to the store a few times.unfortunately i have always lost my nerve and acted rather strangely in front of her, as she was the only girl who interested me in the town, apart from my ex! the elf comment yes perhaps may have caused her to think poorly of me, but me calling a girl elfish is a big compliment. my usage of the word is an elfish lady- a lady who is natural to the world around her, who could happily surviove and thrive in the forests living with the rabbits and squirrels, usually girls with long naturla hair, hardly any make up, and sparkly eyes. it is actually a compliment and i dont call too many girls elfs!
i spoke to her a little when she came nack to the stoire, saw her yesterday as it happens, but it been obvious since she first ventured back into my store, that she had no interest in me, other than that of a fishmonger. i get the impression she finds me a bit strange, but not qproblem really. she is still an angel and her eyes are always sparkling. so someone special in the crowd!ileave her be, think she leaves town soon as shes finsiohed her degree. elfin is beautiful to me

I didn't know if elfish was a compliment either so I did an internet search and as it turns out, most elves are hot. (I should have known, I've got a thing for Blondie from Lord of the Rings movies).
