Hey people,
ANybody wishing to keep up to date with the FIFA football World Cup, please take a look at my World Cup Diary... I am trying to cover every match with a preview, commentary and conclusion, which is quite a mission given the time difference between Germany and Melbourne and also because I am supposed to be working 40 hours a week. But I have a firm subscription to the 'well I have started so I may as well go on...' school of philosophy so despite the newly-discovered depths of fatigue and mental/phsycial breakdown... the show must continue....
Any comments are of course always appreciated, but not expected. The diary should offer at the very least an informative guide to the matches played...

Cheers

Not many people delve into the sports or literal lines forum, much to our shared disgust Doc, but here, in Generally Chillin, the link to the action is more visible and hopefully will draw more interest....
the Krouts look exciting, Captain, but lack a world class defence, which those bastardds will need against the liks of Argies, UK, Italy, Brazil and maybe Spain/Ecuador(one of those two teams can make it into the ('teams either in form enough to play world class, or filled with latent world class quality in the ranks....)
I gotta stick to my 2 year old tips for the Argies and Iti's, with the English as my third favourites, but they could move to 2nd favourites should Italy show Mr Jekly instead of the desired Dr Hyde, when they face the Czechs.

who cares about the sorrowful, gutless, in coherent, unconvincing, spiritless, bloodless, pathetic, nature of the performance...we won!!!!!!!and I am more than sure that we can do another stifle and grab mission on whoever makes it out of the HOLLAND v PORTUGAL bloodfest alive....
It is such a shame that lennon isnt left footed, the idea of having him and beckham playing is wicked, in fact they looked great together against trinidad....
the most pleasing value of the game was Rooney, he battled and scrappped like a pitfighter for the whole nintey minutes...his fitness will be impriving exponentially and as planned he will be in a feverish state by the time we reach the semis........
land of hope and glory......
did anybody else hear Rooney shout 'Fuck OFF' when he reached for a over hit pass and just missed keeping the ball in the field of play???...
i love him....he is one of the gods i worship...
not for swearing, but for his indefatigable spirit and determination..
all he wants to do is play football, fuck or fight...a Pro......

did u spy the rookage (fight, scrap, kerfuffle) at the end of the germany Vs argentina match? no need

tbh the ref did seem a little biased towards germany though but still, your bein watched by thousands of people including kids, you should have a little more self discipline.

It was rather unsavoury, but to be honest I didn't see exactly how it-the fracas- began.
As soon as Pekerhead(Argie coach) made his final substitution I felt that Germany was going to win. The Argentine formation paid too much respect to the Germans. When the main strength of a team is attack, it is suicidial to play defensively, as Argentina did. Lionel Messi is one of the greatest talents in the game and yet he didn't even get to kick a ball in anger as his team-mates flopped out of the tournament. That is why Germany trumphed. Because Argentina played to their weaknesses and not to their obvious strengths. Stifling the Germans was the main aim...
I would have fought fire with fire and played Messi from the start in a brazenly offensive formation. Yes that would have undoubtedly have resulted in a few German goals, but the Argies would have scored more...
Who started the trouble???And did you see the giant, Bierhoff, roaming around attempting to displace the fire......??

gutted on england, tbh they didnt deserve to win anyways. Who u reckon will win now then? Oh god please not france, anyone but France, I'm down with Portugal or Italy right now, however Germany have played pretty well though so I wouldnt be suprised if their german efficiency won it over for em.

Yeah they're the best, but obviously France is pretty good too. As for my pick to win it all... I'd have to go with my gut feeling here as no one can really predict the outcome and say Italy might very well win it all. I think Italy will beat the home team of Germany and Portugal will beat a very strong France team in the other semi. It's really tough to decide between Italy and Portugal though. Even as I continued typing here I changed my mind to Portugal lol.
1st - Portugal
2nd - Italy
3rd - Germany

'didnt deserve to win anyways'...I would agree with that sentiment from the preceeding games, Rasta, but not for that game last night...I thought we definitely deserved to win.......but here is my account I wrote straight after the match>>>
It is a shame that it wasn't until we were a man down, a Rooney down at that, and playing with our backs to the wall before we finally started to display some of the traditional british spirit and grit. We were much the better team for the majority of the match, but admittedly we didn't create many gilt-edged goal-scoring chances. I hate to admit it- because I am a huge Beckham fan- but England became far more spritely as soon as Lennon arrived on the pitch.
If it wasn't for Ronaldo demanding severe action from the ref, and Rooney subsequently pushing him, then I reckon the Argentine would have given a Yellow. Still, we can't blame Ronaldo. Rooney knows full well that a 'come on then' push will get at least a yellow and he should have showed a touch of professionalism and just bit his tongue and hoped for the booking rather than look for 'afters' with his Man United team-mate. I can't see those two ever quite clicking for United...hahahhahahah
I thought the Portugese were despicably unsporting for the whole match. Either that squad is as fragile as egg-shells or they are a bunch of cheating, play-acting, injury-faking swine, who should be banned from competing in international tournaments. I would make such an innovative FIFA president....
Before the penalties, I thought we would win due our apparent superiority in terms of Spirit, Determination and Bravery. Those factors are usually important in the shoot-out routine but alas not on this occasion.
Carragher obviously had only one penalty kick worked out in his head and was ultra-eager to take it...If only he had waited for an extra second or three for the ref to say 'go for it', then the story may have been so different..As it was though, Carragher was unable to formulate a second succesful spot-kick. The first one may well have done the trick, but asking a defender with no goal-scoring penalty to score twice in quick succession from the spot is ridiculous.
from teamtalk::>>>
'Shearer wouldn't be surprised if Rooney "sticks one on" his Manchester United team-mate Ronaldo when the pair next meet in the wake of Rooney's red card in Gelsenkirchen. '
Shearer should of been offered the England job as player-manager, maybe that would have persuaded him to get back in an England shirt..
I know that England have much more than the spirit and grit as anyone knows who has seen any of the premiership over this last few years. Gerrard and Lampard miserably fail to transfer their often scintillating club form onto the internationl stage. Why?I refuse to accept that they havn't got what it take to show their class at the top level, and my indignant gaze rests solely on the form of Eriksson. I do agree that we lack flair, but with a manager who is prepared to focus more on our strengths than weakness, I feel we can be one of the strongest teams in the world. I guess the operative phrase there is 'can be'...'when we can be' is a entirely different matter.
I am not happy about the appointment of Mclaren because from what I have seen with my own eyes his impact on England is worthless. That is unless he basically acts like a lapdog to Sven, which I doubt.
There can be major parralals drawn between the Tony Blair/ Gordon Brown situation and the Sven/Mclaren partnership, which has now dissolved into a one man show....
England don't have the defence of Italy or the attack of Argentina, but we do have an extremely talented, also ultra-irritable, world-beater in Rooney, and some other players of youth and quality. Lennon has showed a huge amount of promise and by the time the EUROS come round, the english team should be well into a serious transitional phase which will include the departure of both Beckham and Neville. The future still looks very bright, but this world cup must go down as an opportunity wasted for England...
I would rather see England actually show some pride and steel and go out of the competition than get through to the semis by cheating like the Portugese...
I hope to hell that Rooney kicks the shit out of Ronaldo when they are re-united in Manchester....
Brazil didn't make my favourites list before the world cup began, and I am not surprised that the first decent team they played, beat them....Carlos and Cafu can bot still run, but neither can pass or shoot. Adirano is a big brute who goes down far too easily when he should bemaking useo f his hulk frame...
France outplayed Brazil.....
Portugal are scum...

I hate the portugese team so much, we got ripped of by them in euro 2000 and now we lost to them undiservingly in the first mach we played in for the whole tournament. I think we played so well with ten men it was easy to forget that rooney wasnt on pitch. I lost hope completely when it went to penalties and i stopped watching and rolled a joint when i saw our last hope gerrard stepping up with tears in his eyes from the first goal scored, looking as sick as a dog. How can ronaldo look like such a smug cunt playing against so many players from his own club?
