my pc is recovering from a savage multi pronged trojan attack...still I have one problem with this fucker called 'backdoor.cvt'.it had infected a file called
wintkh32.dll which i assume is a registry entry given its .dll extension???can this be confirmed??
now mcafee found this resilient scum but wasnt able to delete/clean/quarantine due to the file being write-protected....So i gave trojanremover a pop and lo and behold it gave me the option of 'disabling the refernce to this file' which i glady did...

is that file wintkh32.dll important???
as ever all help is greatly appreciated...

Well, for starters, registry entries usually don't have extensions seeing as they only exist in the registry as references, unless you have a single key as a file, then it would be .REG. Those single key files are just the information contained in the key that it will be created in the registry if you run the file.

DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library. A DLL file is a library of functions and routines that are linked into executable (EXE) files and loaded only when needed by an executable. For example if you have an executable program running, and you tell it to print out something, it will most likely use a pre-included line of code to call on an external function contained in a DLL which will carry out the job of telling the printer to print out the data.

Long and boring explanations aside, I can't find anything with that name in either my system or in Google’s vast pool of information, so my guess would be that the file probably isn't that important.

Or you could always do what I do. If the computer is working fine, don't worry about it. If something goes wonky, I backup the important stuff (porn) and format.

Most people have more important shit than porn on their computer :(
