Today we received word from Canada immigration that we are likely candidates for the familial class sponsorship for permanent residency program. Which means that Sammy can sponsor me as his common law partner. It takes 6 - 12 months, but hopefully they will let me work here legally while we wait for the paperwork to go through.
Everyone knows that I got fired from the resort and that Sammy quit. We have been staying with his godfather. This has been a stressful time for me, being that I can't just go out and get another job (which is a shame, there are TONS of jobs in Golden BC) and I didn't know if the government will make me leave soon to go back to the states, or what.
The stress was relieved immensely today. Fate smiled on us!
Within an hour of the encouraging news from immigration, we went to look at a house for Kyle and hopefully myself to live in. Upon arriving, we found it to our extreme liking. It is a rustic 2 bedroom with high ceilings in the log-cabin style. It is extremely spacious, with a huge yard, a firepit, a woodburning stove, and a beautiful view of the mountains. It is only $475 Ca. a month, can you believe that? It dawned on me that I have $1000 saved up so I decided to help him with the deposit and first month's rent and stay here for at least a month while we see what they say about changing the conditions of my work permit so I can get a job.
The house is 10 minutes out of town with hardly any neighbors. I could see Sammy plotting his massive grow operation in the back bedroom.
As we drove back into town, we stopped at this great upscale restaurant on a hunch. Sure enough, half an hour later Sammy had a new job, with less than 48 hours of downtime since we left the resort. He starts his first shift in 2 hours.
We move in in 5 days.
