alright I have been having this minor problem for, well since I have got this computer, I have reformated it many times, but it still is a problem.

at any givin time usually 15-20mins or so on the computer boom I get the BSOD (blue screen of death) saying fatal error 0028:C0004E80 VXD VMM or it will come up as 0028:C0005257 VXD VMM Iv researched this mainly on google and I just can't understand the resolution for this shit, so if anyone would help it would be GREATLY appreciated.

more info: i am not using a matrox (spelling) graphics card, I have went into cmd promt and tried scanreg it so no errors found, tried a Restistry Cleaner but it needed to be registered and as I looked for a serial number bam virus.

format your harddrive and re-install the operating system, it only takes what 40 mins max ?

I agree with Tom. Also make sure to get anti-virus and firewall up as soon as the install is done. Then get all your updates.

if your harddrive is partition`ed then save all your shit to the 2nd partition and virus check it, once you have done this make a boot disk, insert the disk and reboot your pc it will load in dos and will get a A:/ or c:/ run the command

format C:/

and wait, after its done, insert the windows xp disc and run setup, go from there and follow the instructions.

i formated it h it, sory to say im a bit blazed now, ok i formatted it and reinstalled 98, ** and still corrupt

hmm it cant be i recently got a new one, could it be the win98 cd? dont answer that stupid q never know if i dont try

unpack with win rar and burn to cd, there you go xp disc, if that dont work, donload isobuster and that has a option to burn bin files strait to cd.
