Anyone wiser on computers than me?

OK, recently I made a new thread name About:Blank, I was moaning about an IE hijacker.
I was reccomended to install mozilla, so I did
BUT
I cannot uninstall internet explorer 6, I have searched all over the gaff for a way to uninstall it, I have used google, altavista, lycos, yahoo, dogpile etc, nothing found a way.
I was wondering if anybody out there knew how to uninstall it, I have tried going into add/remove programs but IE does not show up.
I am running windows xp sp1
(P.S I wasn't sure wether this was the right place to post this thread.. Sorry if I was wrong

did your computer have a reboot disk with it? i know when my computer was crashing and my explorer would freeze so i put in the reboot cd and i picked the option to reset all my programs to default. i have not had any problems since. im sure that someone on here will have an easier option, but i just wanted to put in my two cents.

Thanks big daddy, however I have just searched google with different key words, and there are no actual ways to uninstall IE because it is so tightly put into the windows OS....

There are third party programs to uninstall IE, but it is not reccomended as windows update works from internet explorer.
I hate IE, its shite

yeah its a core part of windows i think, i recomend sp2 too aswell btw. ive justinstalled mozilla firefox today like, just getting used to the interface and that

Yes you definately cant uninstall it. Why do you want to anyway? I run mozilla and i havent unistalled IE and it runs fine. Even if i could delete it i dont think i would suggest it anyway.

maybe he has loads of spyware and thought removing IE would get rid of the lot

control pannel
add and remove programs
add/remove windows components
anyone wanna give advise?

You dont need to uninstall IE. Just start using firefox and make it your default browser. Then if for some odd reason you cant view a page in firefox you can always try in IE. As useless as it is its still a good idea to have it around. I think a may have posted to your other thread and you probably got confused when you were told to get rid of IE. We (well I) just meant to stop using it is all.

Just keep IE on your system Bro but use the Fire to The Fox instead. Delete the icons instead

Spyware and Adware runs off internet explorer, so that fucked up.
But i reinstalled windows xp, and then installed firefox without givin any thing a chance to get on the compter!!

you might wanna consider installing sp2 and running updates, it will prolly help stop dat shit that gets in ur comp when visiting porn sites

Last time I installed sp2 I got some sort of bug on it called the "Drwtson32 kernal debugger"
Which wouldnt let me open anything from the start menu or desktop...
its ok now, i reinstalled windows... the easy way
