You should get some mixes (from a party) by Dj Rush, Arcus P, Christian Varela, Carl Cox (if you're into softer stuff) etc. Try Carl Cox - Live in Detroit, it's divided into tracks. Download the first track, see if you like it. If it's too soft, get DJ Rush, you'll like it. If that's too hard get Christian Varela.
A good song is Morillo feat. Audio Bullys - Break down the doors

Most of this is more hardcore than techno coz i prefer it...

Breeze & Styles - You're Shining

Hixxy ft. MC Storm - Just Accept It

Angel One - Hold Me Tonight

Special D - Come With Me

DJ Caffiene - Fuck On Cocaine

Bittersweet Symphony Rave Remix

Evil Angel - Today (the Breeze & Styles Mix is better than the original IMO)

Hixxy - Drop The Beats

And if you like bass, try some Drum & Bass

Andy C - Stalker, Body Rock

Dunno if this is the sort of thing you were looking for.

BASIC CHANNEL BASIC CHANNEL BASIC CHANNEL! The be all and end all of dub techno.
Download some of Phillip Sherborne's mixes for a listen to some proper tech: http://homepage.mac.com/psherburne/FileSharing1.html
The Gemini mix is particularly good.

Amé and Isolée are doing the best house I've heard of late.
Theres all the deep house mixes you could ever want here:
http://www.deephousepage.com/mixes.php
Roll at fat one for those.

Any of the Renaissance mix CD's are worth having, I've got a whole shelf dedicated to them. They're a good lesson in what Progressive house is about. Everything by Nick Warren is worth having, check out his 'Way Out West' stuff, Intensify (album) is fantastic. Its a real nice blend of trance/house.

The only hard house stuff I've heard where they didn't forget the music is Tony De Vit live in Televive which is part of the Global Underground series (all worth having). Its a legendary mix and if it doesn't get you out of your seat dancing round the room you might just as well forget the whole thing

Theres loads of compilations out atm of the beginnings of house/tech, a couple of gooduns are the 'Masters of House' series by Masters At Work and 'Acid- Can you jack?' on Soul Jazz.

For weirder stuff, Stress records. Zeitgeist New Wave Club Culture, another legendary set. It was out of print for a long time but I have a feeling they may have reissued it, get it while you can, its got some fucking awesome tunes on, Genetica, Desert, Palefield Mountains' PM3 Theme, Bedrock: Set In Stone- fucking awesome, one of my fav house tracks ever ever ever.

Oh and get Dubnobasswithmyheadman by Underworld. One of the best dance LPs ever. Also the Hybrid LP is top.

Some of the Cream comps are worth getting for the more commercial end, Anthems 97 is real good if you can find that, big cream logo spaceship on the front.

I notice alot of the stuff listed on this thread is in no way house/trance/tech?!?
