Problem.

I've always loved sleep, but this is getting ridiculous. I think I might have a medical problem. For the last month or so, I have been sleeping like crazy. I started staying up late every night, passing out at 2 - 4 am. I'm kind of naturally nocturnal anyways, so this wasn't a problem. I'd sleep until noon or 2 and feel fine about it. But lately.... the last few weeks....

I've been trying to go to bed earlier - not working. The earliest I can seem to fall asleep is just after 2. The problem is this - I'm sleeping at least 12 hours every night. I try to get up after 8, 10 or even 12 hours but I'm just so tired and the sleep feels so damn good. If I try to wake up after only 8 hours of sleep, I just wobble until I find a comfortable position and pass out again. I used to be able to do just fine on 6 - 8 hours of sleep a night! Now it's not uncommon for me to sleep 12, 14 or even 15 hours a night. I went to bed at 2:30 last night and was so happy to get up at 10:30.... but immediately I fell back asleep and didn't wake up until just now... 3:45.

I'm really kind of freaked out about it. I feel like I have cancer or something. It's not right to be this tired - I don't think I'm well. I have a doctor appointment in a few weeks, hopefully they can tell me I just have a vitamin deficiency or something. But in a week and a half I have to go through 2 vigorous days of scuba diving - getting up at 5 am, spending 12 hours working my ass off instead of sleeping - God it makes me want to cry just thinking about it. I know I will be painfullyu tired - and I don't know what to do about it!

Help.....

Go to the doc get some good sleeping pills. They will put you to sleep at any desired time.

The joys of chemistry.

Last night I couldn't get to sleep until 5 am, but somehow I was able to wake up reasonably early, at 12:45. This relieved me. Regularly sleeping for 15 hours stresses me out.

Wow Caro you and me have this in common, definetly. Since Im not in school for a while, and I am unemployed, I have no problem staying up late into the night. When I go to sleep I just know if I dont try and control my biological clock, when school comes around Im going to be totally fucked.

I would NOT reccomend sleeping pills. If you must, use tranquilizers. Take one earlier in the night (8 or 9 o clock) and expect to sleep 12-16 hours.

Another alternative option, which I've never tried (but thought of) is to just keep doing what you're doing, until your biological clock catches up with itself (does that make sense?)

you cannot go backwards to get your body clock in order, you must go fowards, say you went to bed at 8 lastnight goto bed at 9 the next and 10 the next 11 the night after, till you go rigth around and you at the time you wanna start sleepin`, its grooling, but it works.

drink alot of coffee? eat more fruits ?

I'm doing it the other way around, i used to fall asleep as soon as I hit the sack, but now i spend 1.30-2 hours lying awake in my bed trying to get to sleep :/

I took a sleeping pill last night, passed out hard at 9 pm, slept until 10:30 :?

Tom I disagree, you're saying I should stay up all night and pass out early the next evening. I always rotate the clock backwards.

it'll probably work either way, i would only use the pills in emergencys.

if you wake up early and feel like going back to sleep try drinking coffee as soon as you wake

Last night: 2:30 to 12:30. This is an improvement! I almost went back to sleep when I woke up, and I was tired to the point of being dizzy, but I slammed a few cups of coffee, roasted a bowl and now I feel great!
