Still, My parents just got back from Nevada and lots of people picked them out as Canadian. It might not be the way we sound, so much as how we phrase things?

That had to do with the generalisation.
Imagine being at school and not understanding the description of the problem; asking it but you had already warned your teacher about french being the only language you can fully understand, then getting laughed at by this same mathematic teacher : Oh, look this little lady right here doesn't even know what a dime is? aaahh hahahahaa ahaha ha ha ha... haaha ... (echo) ..
Or imagine running out of paper and kindly asking the kid next to you: Do you have some paper? Then he replies you " This is fucking america and we don't say that we say "do you have any paper?""
Going home crying because some stupid skanky bitch in PE (that happens to be your neighbour to top it off) hates you, picks at you and makes her black girlfriend tell you shit like "oohhm, you got white crap in your hair... And ... on your butt too..." Pointing at you... And starting off that day, all the decent friends you had made did not want to talk to you, ... not being able to defend yourself because you don't know the language really, neither understanding the conflict in the first place, and not being able to even understand the level of disrespect that is because you have never heard slang in your life?
Arguing with some other teacher because she hates your ass; you *are* french since you *speak* french and this is 2004, right when France refused helping USA on the war. They had a lot of intern cosmopolitan problems with terrorism already since they had made ghettos of arabs that were dirty and overpopulated; furious and comitting terrorist acts such as putting bombs in metros. But she doesn't even wants to hear that shit. I know my history so I make her notice that the last war that was on they helped them win the war and that there is also the statue of liberty that proves their support as well as the independance day, but she isn't listening and being belligerent about her feelings of hate towards that country.

Don't even talk to me about tolerance or understanding. I had three years of healthy self-esteem taken away from me because of my experience with the american educational system. Maybe it has to do with the fact that because you can't understand english you get treated as an ignorant. It was ridiculous the lack of culture half of these people had. Or maybe it is just Las vegas being quite a fucked up out of nowhere materialistic and superficial city. It took me quite a while to get a normal life so yeah that kind of left me a bad impression of the average american.

I agree with this post with all my soul. The American education system is AWFUL, at least half of Americans are completely ignorant of any other countries other than their own, and most people don't care about anyone other than themselves. I HATE these people, and I'm from here!! BUT, to the good, "I'm not a complete asshole who doesn't care about the world" Americans: Please stand out above the rest and help set this country on the right path. I know that if America were run right, the world could be a whole lot better. Sure there would still be problems, but we would be taking care of them more efficiently and more quickly than what is possible now.

I'm sorry you were treated so poorly, and if you were in my town, I would have stood by you through and through.
