Buying cell phones in those bundles actually cost you way more than buying the phone on it's own and then getting a contract with an operator.

I'm confused with this statement that you guys are talking about. In the US, you have to use certain cell phone companies (AT&T, Verizon, etc. etc.) to use your phone. Our contracts is the only way we can utilize our phones here, is there different ways in different countries?

Mine saved me tons of money. You basically need a data plan for a smart phone to be worth it, and I got the medium sized one (2GB a month) which is PLENTY as most of my heavy use is on a wireless network since they're located everywhere around me. My phone was $650 in stores when I bought it, but with my upgrade plan and 2 year contract renewal, I only paid $200 for it

I'm glad I got unlimited data grandfathered into my phone data plan when I got my 4g phone. 2 gigs a month is a pretty hefty amount, but its the 16th and just using my phone day to day, i'm at just about 1.9 gigs.

My phone (HTC Thunderbolt) was just under $900 when I got it. with contract, its only 250, and the contract states:
Nationwide Account level Talk and Text Family Share: $100
Text messaging, 4G internet access, picture messaging, international dialing, are all free. Unlimited data is $30. So... 130 bucks a month for 4 phones isn't too bad..(stepdad, mom, me and my brother)

yeah well I use my phone on a wireless network almost at all times... There's no need for me to get anything more. Also, AT&T is a ripoff that charges $35 a month for a plan that DOES NOT even have unlimited. 130 bucks a month for 4 phones is not bad at all though, what company do you use?

Also $900 without a plan ($250 with)? wtf? That's highway robbery there.. my phone tops yours (barely) and wasn't nearly as much!

Christ, you guys have some good plan deals. I pay £42 for mine each month and that's just for my own. My sister pays a similar amount.

And no, in England we still utilize network providers. I have a contract with Orange, bit you can also purchase a phone without a contract on a "pay as you go" basis. You buy prepaid credit for your phone and when it runs out, buy more.

The phone has a shitload of space. Got a lot of movies in it. Lot of Books. Lot of music. All my chessgames ever are in it. The camera is incredible, the gps is so accurate. This phone is almost replacing my computer.

yeah, I purchased a laptop around 6 months ago, and ever since I got my phone, there is almost no need for it since I use desktop computers in my home and prefer them much more over laptops anyways.. I have a feeling I'm either going to get rid of the laptop, or keep it for whenever I move out or move away to a new college

Rooted my Thunderbolt this week. Got a whole new theme going on now, its great. Got a custom ROM on here, no bullshit bloatware.. way faster, way better battery life.
Before... pretty much looked like this, just different wallpaper and no widgets on the desktop.
