My Dad was on the computer recently and said,
"Keith, what does 'lmao' mean?"
I had to explain it is a computer chat acroynm for "laugh/laughing my ass off" Then proceeded to explain:
-WTF
-FTW
-ROFL
-LMFAO
-ROFLMFAO
-TMI
-OMG
You get the point. I was almost shocked that even my 65 year old, completely computer illiterate mother knew what "OMG" and "LOL" stood for! Pretty crazy how these terms are even worked into television shows and movies.

my housemate Jordan, who is majorly into his drum n bass, and...umm...dubstep??? a genre whose roots are decisively english...'hey bro, why dont you speak like the dubstep crew????i thought you were off the street????'...i am 'of the gutter', and mix, when in england, more often than not, with street people, as they have the most colour and vibrancy of spirit, for good and ill, the kind of people, who make me feel truly alive, just to be amongst them and their peers...but still, nobody will ever hear me say, or see me write 'its all good', or 'innit', or 'siccccccccccccccck, bro!'...yes, people i love use such expressions, but i dont. Part of that can be defined as pretentious, but most of it can easily be explained through my purist love of the english language. Its my artform, my most constant medium of self expression...so with that rant out the way, surely everyone understands why i despise these internet terms...maybe they save time, but truly, i believe, that fucking with a language, fucks with a species. especially shortening words...words which have shaped the world in which we exist. take away the full sound, the full amount of syllables, and you make the words lose a power which has been inherent within them, for many aeons...so i stick to Proper.

Canada has a definite appeal to me, although I doubt i will ever make it there...any country that has so much snow, wolves, bears and other intriguing creatures, is high on my list of Wicked Places To Be...also...i have been a strident fan of the peanuts and corn crew for many moons, as well as Josh Martinez, and they represent a natural, more european than american people...
