nah not really, empathy is an emotion of connectedness, not universal connectedness

i think you mean the 11th dimension. like string theory or something.
let me link you to a video series i really liked all about string theory.
its a 12 part series. and i binged on them one evening a few months ago. should give em a rewatch now. but to tired
so tired

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Re: The 3rd and 4th Dimension
Yesterday I was talking about the universe with a friend, and even if they find the grand unifying theory of everything there's always the question "why is it like this?" .
It's mind boggling to think about why the laws of physics are what they are, why did life form on earth ? Is it the universe working towards sentience ? After all we are but matter that gained sentience, what if the entire universe is an organism striving towards sentience?
Even though the multiverse seems plausible, and even if what we call the laws of physics are influences seeping through from a higher dimension, what is in there, what is in the dimension above that and what is at the end?
Don't get me wrong, I am still appalled by the notion of religion and the concept of a god, but it seems that the more you think about it the more questions arise, what happened before the big bang ? Are we the result of two pre-existing universes colliding ?
As I said in another topic, now that i'm getting older I think about this stuff a lot more than before, about life and our place in the universe and I can't help but have this hollow feeling when thinking about the reason for our existence, as if it's a question that will never be answered.
Which in a sense is true, even if it was scientifically possible to dig back and find our origins it wouldn't happen in our lifetime.
Such big questions, such vast concepts. Spacetime is a fucked up thing

Re: The 3rd and 4th Dimension
Some part of me truly believes that we live alternate lives in some other dimension while we are sleeping.
Our physical form never leaves the bed/couch/floor. Some form of our energy inhabits another being on some other world while we are dormant.
Either that, or I just have kick-ass dreams.

Re: The 3rd and 4th Dimension
Mmm, that sounds a bit far fetched, wouldn't we then have recollections of our experiences in this 'other body' that stay with us while we are awake?
But then again, looking at quantum entanglement/the quantum theory it appears that everything is possible, all at once.

Re: The 3rd and 4th Dimension
i dont know where i heard this....but i know i've heard it from different places...and they say that some people have an exact look alike somewhere else on earth...so basically a "twin" but with no relation except physical traits.....either that or i saw it in a movie
.....still mind boggling

Re: The 3rd and 4th Dimension
When I think dimensions I think of physical space. You know a one dimensional dot, to a two dimensional line, to a three dimensional cube. We can't see or even realistically imagine the fourth dimension because we aren't built to exist in it. Or we do but we're like dots trying to imagine what it'd like to be a line but that's impossible because we're still just dots no matter how hard we think about it. So many people like to say that it's time, and I say that's impossible to prove absolutely.

The whole space that is everywhere (wich isnt the limit of 'another space) has three dimension, and that space can't really have more dimension if you take the general logic that more than 3 lines can't intersect at right angles on one point. it can't be proved from situations or concepts, but our intuition is based on this and it's demonstrably certain.
If there's extra dimentions, they're definitly spacial, we can't feel em, and there's never been any physicial experimens that has comfirmed the reality of these additional dimensions. the only possible ways is if the space act as if it's curled up in extra dimentions on subatomic scale, like, at the string level, or below.
But yea. it's hard to imagine or to conceive.
That'S why i say i have diffculty with the 10-11 dimention theories. They seem to be true, but they're impossible to explain or to feel. Exept with mathematics. and even there, it's hypotetical.

im confused, do you believe string theory is correct or not?Mate wrote:Mate wrote:i have difficulty with that string theory and m theory that proposes 10-11 dimensions.

i say i have difficulty with it.
their all theories.. and anything could be possible.
