Around here most guards don't really care if you smoke..keeps the prisoners happy and less roudy. There is also alot more hash than bud in prisons, smaller to smuggle in easier to hide and smells less. It's the directors that do the crackdowns and searches for dope in the prisons, the guards being employees have no choice but to comply when this happens.

And yes crooked guards do exist. Nowadays there are not many that will actually sell to you, much to risky for their jobs. But alot of them will close their eyes to transactions of weed already in the walls. But are severe on visitors bringing it in. How tolerant a guard is of drug use/selling depends on who you are too. Always good to be on the good side of a guard. But this does not mean be a rat. Just means do you time peacefully, don't stir up too much shit, don't bad mouth them etc.

also a lot of times inmates will simply pay the guards who search incoming packages to just pass it through. a lot of guards don't make much anyway, so a little extra cash here and there from inmates to "overlook" somethings ain't bad.

Ive heard this many fucking times. Ive heard from people who been in prison saying about smoking in prison.

How the fuck could you get away with it? Everybody knows herb stanks. Other cell mates could smell, And im sure a guard nearby may smell it. Ive heard of guards actually selling weed to prisoners. But besides that i couldnt see how itd work. Id think the guards would have to be crooked to be succesful.

There's a prison in Manchester, not far from me, called Strangeways, where if you have a bag of tweed, the screws don't take it, they jus come and smoke a joint with you.

I talked to him on the phone last night, apparently he is going to be transferred to Belgium, they said friday or saturday. His mate will have to stay in Holland for the gun charge. Apparently Sacha told the cops the weed was all his and that his mate was just along for the trip thinking they were gonna go to a coffeeshop. He can't take visitors for now, so I have to stay here... the wait is killing me. Hopefully he'll get a lenient judge so he doesn't have to go to jail, but they were caught with 2 kilograms, so I really don't know what's gonna happen. It's his first drug-related offense, so I hope he gets the minimum sentence, which is 3 years probation and at least 10,000 euros in fines.

I'll keep you guys posted as I hear more.

My uncle was a guard in the strangeway's riots in the early 90's. He got a medal for helping his colleagues escape unharmed or something.
