"The first typewriter had its letters on the end of rods called "typebars." The typebars hung in a circle. The roller which held the paper sat over this circle, and when a key was pressed, a typebar would swing up to hit the paper from underneath. If two typebars were near each other in the circle, they would tend to clash into each other when typed in succession. So, Sholes figured he had to take the most common letter pairs such as "TH" and make sure their typebars hung at safe distances.
.
He did this using a study of letter-pair frequency prepared by educator Amos Densmore, brother of James Densmore, who was Sholes' chief financial backer. The QWERTY keyboard itself was determined by the existing mechanical linkages of the typebars inside the machine to the keys on the outside. Sholes' solution did not eliminate the problem completely, but it was greatly reduced. " - http://home.earthlink.net/~dcrehr/whyqwert.html

I was sligthly mistaken it seems.

weedguru_animal wrote:That is an odd idea for me, Lep...that there is anyone identical to me. Do you mean in looks, or character or in everything you are?? I am interested to know more of your theory/belief.
I mean in everything we are, but not necessarily everything exactly, so that could include looks, personality, etc but not all togetherly (togetherly isn't a word apparently, however it should be... Stupid squiggly red underlines) inclusive. It is a theory based on maths and common expression... If the 'one in a million' expression is taken further then with 7bn people in the world that equates to a possible 7000 of those 1 in a million....

I based this after someone told me i was one in a million... I thought about it and considered how much of a compliment this actually was, considering the amount of people in the world there are......

Lets face it, the chances of us being as unique as we like to think we are are highly unlikely. Especially if you believe in infinity as i do.

whilst on the rant, I'll like to take this opportunity to express the annoyance of being told "there's something about you"..... What the fuck does this mean, apart from the probable 'nice' way of saying you're strange (however i do take this as a massive compliment. Two of the most disrespectful things i would hate to be called world be ordinary or soft.... These words send shudders.) When questioned, the typical response is "I dunno, there's just something about you." Yet again reiterating the meaningless depiction.

After a football tournament at the weekend, and this last month of scanning documents all fucking day, my body is corpse like, i am walking like an 87 year old man crawling out of hospital after a double hip replacement, crouched over as if my arse is hanging out, and my right shoulder has damaged tendons making lifting even my own hand above shoulder height, viciously painful...the Doc has given me three days off work. Which is welcome, but not much use when my line manager poison pufftoad cunt, has shown every indication of wanting to micro manage me out of business. After contacting the OHS department a week ago, he reprimanded me for not going to him first, decided to postpone the introduction of a special desk which allowed me to stand instead of sit, and saw fit to have me and only me scanning alone all week...Dearo dear, if only i could come across him in privacy, with no witnesses, no cameras, no question of prosecution, I would explain to him, slowly and deliberately, my true feelings on his 'management' technique.

On a lighter note...I seem to be nearing the end of my first ever build and destroy your own Desktop endeavour. The wires snaking all around and across the motherboard, seem like a swirling serpent den, and no doubt they will soon be hissing accordingly, when I finally decide to switch the fucker on and watch $700Au of new computer toys burn and explode in my face. I will wait for my savage queen to return home for the big bang.

It is better to be alone than to be in the wrong company of people. It is better to be by yourself than to be with people whom you have nothing in common and nothing to talk about. That is because, when you are with yourself, you have the space to connect with your higher self fully without the interference of incompatible consciousness of other people around you. It is very different when you are by yourself than when you are with others. Therefore it is highly important that you be with the right kind of people.

Being with the wrong kind of people only lowers your state of consciousness and shrinks your awareness. We are always affected by the collective consciousness of the people around us, because whenever we are surrounded by people, our mind becomes part of the group mind. Being by yourself actually frees you from the group mind, that is why you can connect to God best when you are alone. You can also connect with God better with the people who are truly in greater conscious resonance with you.

Be very selective with who you relate with. The more choosy you are in life, the more the universe will give you exactly what you desire. Using the power of choice expresses who we are as creators of our perfect reality. The reason why you have been experiencing unfulfilling interactions with people is because you have the wrong idea that you have to unconditionally accept everyone who comes your way. The truth is you have to reject people who are not best for you in order to accept only the best.

i found that on the internet and it kinda made me feel better about how alone im feeling in sarnia

Work is hell. Micro-management abounds with my face as the bullseye. But why complain eh? When I can return home to my savage Queen, adoring, loving, delicious, playful and jolly all round...

I hear you Animal, working under non-ideal conditions can be stressing. Just make plenty of time for yourself, which I know that you do. I hope all is well on the flip side of the world.

I've been lurking around almost daily, but haven't logged in too much. That will be changing with the die down of this semester.

What else is new with you?

Presently, old friend, whichever way I turn I am finding nastiness. Cold, unfeeling viciousness aimed towards me. Some who do not know me could consider that the martyr pose, but it is much more a case of me giving all my love, and needing at least a fair portion to come home in return, to simply nourish and encourage me to continue, especially when the sources of my loving output are well aware of the awfulness I am experiencing in my working hours...sometimes I can relate very easily to kim carsons, and want to blow a hole in the sky, and exists, on the chance of an old school duel, but lives until that dice of death turns foul, always on the edge of optimum vitality...know what i mean??

seems like we are all raging a little bit here, i too have caught the scent of blood >.<
some fucker tried to steal my bike! twice! i noticed the day before yesters, there was marks of what looked to be a metal saws attempt at getting through the hardened steel ring i have attatched to the house to put my bike chain through, evidence of scratches on the exhaust were the heavy handed idiot has missed his stroke and caught the object nearest!! and whats more, upon failure, the evil prick has scratched off all the visible rubber of my back type, all the canvas is showing about, way to dangerous for even me to attempt. grrr
and last night, they came back, they revved up their engine outside, causing a general nuisance to see whether anyone was in the house...
so in the dark i got dressed and fumbled for my keys, armed with two tonfa i sprung out the backdoor (cos i couldnt find my keys) and the closest of the (by my count) 5 idiots to my bike, sprung back, away from my bike, quickly retreating to the one of two cars and gone... if not for the locked shut back gate i would have been on the hood of that car... still i have the license plate seared into my mind KX03 OWH
one day i will happen acros this car...
well, theres my rant

That's a part of the law i don't like... Particularly in the uk. You've fuck all rights when it comes to destroying burglars. We've always said in my house jail time wouldn't come into mind if anyone was to break in... Act first think later sort of attitude. Id have no sympathy to anyone seriously hurt or worse if they were doing something that i deem to have deserved it. That's something i like about where I'm from, though its fucked up, punishment shootings are definitely supported in the community, regardless of what the politicians say.

In certain states here if someone is on your property or in your house who shouldn't be you have the right to take lethal (gun) action.

About six months ago some tweaker broke into an apartment across the street from me and after the owner told him to leave and he didn't the owner unloaded a 12 gauge slug into his chest. The tweaker died on contact and after a police interview the owner of the apartment was released from police custody 3 hours later with no charges filed against him.

Where I live we have one of the lowest crime rates in the nation. I don't necessarily attribute all of it to the gun laws, this is a fairly old fashioned part of the US where people are still mostly decent, but when a criminal has the thought of I could be shot upon entry into a domain it may make them think twice before they go through with their actions.

*Unrelated* I completely understand what you mean Dan. The end of the school semester is always stressful, but in two weeks I will be in the Caribbean for a month, that in and of itself makes it very easy to stay focused and make sure my work is done.
