THOSE WHO STAND UP FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS I WONDER IF ANY OF YOU HAVE KILLED AN INSECT IN YOUR LIFE?? ITS ONE OF GODS CREATURES FOR CHRIST SAKE DONT KILL IT AS IT HAS EVERY RIGHT TO LIVE AS MUCH AS YOU!! I MEAN STOP YOUR WHINGING!
heh.... before I even got a chance to whine :x

just kidding Stu, my views have changed. My whole world and all my morals came from treating others as I would want to be treated, including helpless food animals. Just to answer your question, as I have advocated animal rights, I was raised on a farm and have slaughtered many species of animals for food consumption, including cute rabbits and beautiful pheasants. I was raised to do so by a man who thought it funny to slaughter animals in very unorthodox ways... such as nailing the little rabbits' feet to the shed before cutting their throats, or encourage me to dispose of an errant rooster by disabling him and throwing him into the pigpen to be ripped apart. Death does indeed come to us all but I was mortified by my past, saw my actions reflected a millionfold in the industrial meat market, and wanted no part of that. That was why I became vegan.

None of that helped me when my brother was reduced to meat. His dead body shocked me out of my dream world. I didn't save a single fucking caged chicken by not eating eggs. I dont really give a fuck anymore. I wont eat meat coz it disgusts me but anything else goes. Death is the order of life, and maybe you shouldnt sacrifice pleasures like dairy and meat, coz life is short and meant to be enjoyed.

As for the seal clubbing, I'm disgusted but numb, all the animal abuse I used to discuss is no longer a topic of pertinent interest to me.

we cant do anything about it and besides.... I've killed animals and as bad as it was, their dead bodies nourish people. Their dead bodies are in a very tangible sense a good thing. There was nothing good or sensible about the deaths of my brothers. It became so very different for me when Dan was reduced to meat.... shit guys I'm super stoned and I can tell I'm rambling so I'll stop now.

I want to come back to posting but it's so hard to sift through all teh meaningless bullshit and all I really wanna do still is talk about Dan ;) but that thread is dying

FunkDoctor, you're right...they don't just kill them for food. In fact the market for seal meat is tiny. The only real market there is for the meat is in the Pet Food Industry.

A growing cause of the clubbing of seals is to retrieve the males's penis bone, which the Chinese use as an aphrodisiac...

But asides everthing I just said, the main point to consider, and the pain reason why you're wrong, jusmeandmypipe, is that clubbing a seal then skinning it ALIVE (40% of harp seals get skinned alive) is cruel because you are causing it great pain when you do it.

I partially agree wiht both you and $tu about the whole thing, but a few things to point out are that whales kill the seals in a brutal way, yes, but that is nature and cannot be stopped, wheras the seal hunters could easily avoid harming the seals so much.

Additionally, It wasn't my intention to insult you're country. I've been to Canada. 'Tis bery nice. But I don't think it was in your place to use Fox Hunting as a comback, since I don't foxhunt, nor do I condone Fox Hunting, it too is cruel and unnecceray in the way that they do it, I have seen videos too of foxes getting shot in the mouth through there cheek and out the other side, then left to writhe in pain. Plus I didn't suggest at any stage that you yourself hunted seals.

So this whole topic is about SEALS?! They're not that great. They die all the time too from all sorts of crap (i remember when I went fishing a couple years ago, one got slashed by the boats rudder or something)

seriously... this is like not caring if a fat ugly old person dies but caring if a pretty young girl dies.

but wait, nobody DOES care if fat ugly old people die!

jus.me.n.my.pipe wrote:N dont yall brits run through the woods riding horses..killing off foxes? Cus hey, in my eyes, foxes are just Soooo CUTE! Dumbasses.

"There are roughly 200 official fox hunts in England, entertaining about 50,000 Britons, and translating to the deaths of an estimated 13,000 foxes and 6,000 fox cubs each year"

"each fox hunt can last as long as two hours, until the fox is finally seized, and if lucky, shot, before being thrown to the hounds. Sometimes, the fox is literally eaten alive by the dogs, torn to pieces, with the tail, feet and head usually taken as trophy. Some hunts still engage in the practice of "blooding," where the foxes' blood is smeared on the faces of those witnessing their first kill, usually children."

for REAL! dude AT least the seals are killed for a purpose!!!!!! THIS is outrageous... "british FUCKERS!"

since u like movies...

I'd say about 90% plus of the british population are against fox hunting. There are anti hunt marches happening all the time, so do some background research first before you call us all 'fuckers'. In fact, fox hunting is even banned in scotland, and came VERY close to being banned in england to.

Killing animals of any sort is wrong, so stop whining about which is more acceptable to kill. You kill a dog, it's an animal. You kill an elephant, it's an animal. You kill a spider, it's an animal.
Death is the only certainty. EVERYTHING else is variable.

Take care of the AIDS epidemic before you try and save the seals.

Why people would donate to a protect the animals foundation or some shit like that, rather than donate to the AIDS foundation is beyond me. Humans ARE more important than animals.

Fuckin right.

And nobody can say it's not true.. cus I highly doubt that if anyone was forced to chose between saving a baby or a seal... they'd save the frikkin seal! Humans are just important. And if I was a frikkin seal I'd say seals are the most important and have no shame. So let's face it. WE RULE.

wot's the difference between a whale killing a seal and a human killing a seal? if it's ok for a whale to kill a seal but wrong for humans to kill them then that's just giving whales more rights than humans...and thats just not happening.
