Umm hate to break it to you but they dont only rhyme in rap. They rhyme in pop, metal, slow etc songs. Seems like you know nothing about MUSIC at all and your into that pop shyt. I love rap and i also like some rock songs cause of the lyrics. The only difference is how its deliverd. But once again you dont know that cause you know shit about music.

If you dont like all the 50cent stuff and all that bollox then fair play. But hip-hop is the best type of music ever without a doubt. I like all music

Yes, I believe I may be close minded, but all the main stream rap that I indefinately hear disgusts me. At least mainstream rock and other forms or music are somewhat appealing, (tool, perfect circle).

I'm probably one of the most open minded people out there, and most tolerant (sexual preferences, religion, race, personal beliefs, type of pet you own etc) but when it comes to music I get pretty defensive about my favourite styles... I know other people are like that and jump to claim that rap isn't just rhyming about "*censor* in da hood", but as far as I see it, there is no musical talent in it whatsoever... a five year old could click out a better 4/4 beat (which is almost 100 percent of rap beats, try 6/8 or something different for fuck sake) and there is nothing new. Wow, that bassline is fat.... at 3 different notes in a computerised perfect loop, what great talent.... if there's any fills in the song they're basic at best, pointless most of the time... synthesised music is the laziest form of music ever and most rap/r&b "music" is just that. Even poetry has more depth because it generally has meaning or comes from the heart, not from a box of racist or crude language cards randomly scattered on the floor to make a number one hit. Fuck even Good Charlotte, in my opinion the worst band ever, are better (note they are a "band" ie. they have the minimal talent to play instruments instead of say "*censor* *censor* bitch bitch cones homie joint fuck fuck die cops fuck da po-lice") honestly there is nothing worse than turning on the radio and hearing the unchanging steady dull beat of rap "music" under a layer of slightly-faster-than-normal talking called "rapping". ok I want to make a million bucks here I'll write a song filled with hate and make it rhyme and I'm basically there.... also, a few crimes on record will boost sales, ooh look at me I'm tough I've had cops shoot at me before buy my Japanese production line car, er, I mean cd. Shit I'm getting fucking worked up here just thinking about the reasons why rap music should not exist, AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH fuck you Eminem, fuck you 50 Cent, FUCK YOU ALL

Seriously listen to something like G-Padpo by Saian Supa Crew and tell me that is anything like what you are describing. I'm not saying you'd like it, just I think it is a good example of there being a lot more variety in the genre, but like with most types of music it isn't the stuff that gets played all the time on the radio.

Plus I normally do listen to rock stuff, hip hop is something I've gotten in to more recently

sux (well most of it anyways) I kno people can relate but really as stoners most of the rap moozic (maybe I just heard commercial shite stuff (which is more than likely as I try to avoid it)) is about fightin and shootin n sex. the only reasons that rap is linked to smokin pot is because most rappers make comments about kron, and that the beats are mellow and in a word"chillen". i dont really listen to the stuff but i ahve ppl that do and i cna say taht it isnt that bad to listen to while puffin, but still not something id go outta my way 4:p

Rock is an incredibly wide genre, 12 year olds say i like rock, u gotta b more specific, What Grunge, metal, progressive? Same goes for hip-hop, when i say i like hip-hop people istantly think of black people talkin about shooting people n shit

theres loads more to it than that.

You CAN say anything about whatever. I can say mkamyszek is a homo, but...well...honestly, I dont mean it =P(I just used you as an example for fun). Personally I like rap, its mainly what I listen to. Maybe some calmin r&b and shit depending on my mood. Never rock or punk stuffs. Its all about styles, everyones different and unless your easily influenced, your gonna keep your style.

anyways weed shouldn't be related to try-hard hip-hoppers, I figure it should be related to the original legends on the kron ie. Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple (Smoke on the Water = greatest stoned inspiration ever)

guys, guys we gotta open our minds a bit, i thought that was one of the reason most people here take weed??? some poeple like rap(understandable) and some people like other stuff like heavy metal,pop,rock and jazz Oh and classics... Its just up to the individual in what music they like just as much as its up to the TV shows we watch and the food we eat MAN what wrong with me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course mainstream hiphop sucks, but technically it's not even hiphop. It's pop music. Music for the masses.

One thing I can't stand is people badmouthing hiphop as a whole because of what they see on MTV and BET. THAT'S NOT EVEN HIPHOP, DAMMIT! That bullshit only has one purpose: make wiggers spend money.

I can understand you don't like hiphop, everyone has different taste, but you can't say hiphop sucks just because you like rock music.
