its far from nonchalant, and its meant to be entertaining, not racist. a man from china, is a chinaman to me, as a man from england, is an englishman to me. If any chinese or japanese find my terms offensive, all they need is say so, and i will adjust myself. the fact that you consider 'chinaman' a racist slur, is indeed, very weird to me, ikku...as it suggests you are living in an insanely fucked up environment...calling a black man a *censor*, is a racist slur to me...calling a frenchman a frog, is hardly hurtful, but still a slur of sorts...calling a german a krout...but to refer to people, as nothing more than their country and the word man, is not at all a slur...and yes, i find it very weird, that you consider such terms 'highly offensive'...perhaps in england, in europe, we are more relaxed???or less eager to show a very spastic kind of patriotism, but where i come from, and where i live, calling a japanese a jap, a chinese chap a chinaman, is not offensive, at worst, its just silly...

Regardless of China being able to bankrupt the US, or not, as the case may be, they'd still fuck you at war. It'd be a fucking massacre. Imagine, the only nation able to call up a million man army within an hour? They'd be in america within 1 day and your rivers would run red.

And treasury bonds are what the government use to buy currency from the FED aren't they? Surely the FED could just reject sale of currency to the chinese, couldn't they? But then, that would start a war and you'd all be fucked.

Personally i'd let them bankrupt you. Resistance appears to be futile.

If China invaded the US they would be breaking UN treaties and be dawned upon by hundreds of nations, its not that simple as 1v1

point well taken, and i suppose my own country would be accompanying the US into war against the chinese, which i could not condone either. still, if america refuses to exchange said treasury bonds for currency, they'd also be breaking some sort of law/treaty?

most likely, the problem is, the UN is run by the US. we don't like to admit that but its true, we pretty much do whatever we want

You have to consider the difference in countries I suppose. In America Chinese workers built our railroads and faced a lot of discrimination, probably treated as less than human as is often in American history. "Chinaman" was probably a replacement for calling them by name, also I think a lot of non-Chinese asians have also been referred to as Chinaman, which would be way more offensive. That's probably why I see it as a slur, there are LOTS of different asians in my city and if you referred to one as a "Chinaman" there would be a good chance he is not actually Chinese. If you think you can tell ethnicities apart I'd still advise against it, Chinese vs. Japanese is easy but Chinese vs. Korean or some other mainland Chinese is difficult, it's like trying to tell two white people apart as Swedish or Norwegian or something.

ikku, when i refer to 'the chinaman' or 'the japs' i am always damn sure that i am referring to the country as a whole...sometimes just its government. I most definitely do not use such terms, fangerously broadly, as in towards anyone who looks chinese...I have never suggested i can tell certain east asian races apart, nor never would....my point was, that i see nothing obviously racist, about referring to the chinese as The Chinaman, to the english, as The Englishman, or to the australians, as AUSSIES...have no fear, mate, for i am well aware, despite my outlined stance, how some people take offence through such terms. If you were chinese, or a chinese person had suggested i am using racist slurs, then i would be reacting differently, but as far as i know, you are a yankee white???? if not, and i have insulted you in any way, sincerely, i apologize, and my only defence can be, that, simply, i did not mean to cause offence or injury...

Oh no I'm just yankee white as you say, I wasn't offended as I said I was just a bit amused because I never hear anyone talking that way. In fact "Englishman" is the only one of your terms I'm familiar with. But in the parts of America I hang out in it's not uncommon to hear some pretty vile terminology used, making "Chinaman" pale in comparison

in canada calling someone a jap or chinaman are racist slurs. even if you are referring to the country as a whole.

maybe if we didnt have the history of all the chinese people that died building our rail ways and how the term chinaman was used derogatorily during that time.
the same goes for the term jap, we have a history that includes all the japanese immigrants being rounded up and put into concentrations camps during WW2.

I remember one time I was working with a bunch of mexicans in a kitchen somewhere. And I refered to them as "the Mexicans" to another white lady, and she gasped and was like, "That's Racist! they are hispnanic!" I looked at them and asked them, "Hey are you guys Mexicans or Hispanics?" and they all said "Mexican!!!" with much enthusiam.

This is my story about racism. thank you for reading.

There's more than enough room for 10 billion people on the planet. They could all live healthily and there could be plenty of food, if the right money was spent in the right places. Nobody needs killed off or anything of the sort. And Ikku, it took a lot more researching and thinking after watching the youtube video to get me into my "enlightened" state, lol.

Also, to me, the term 'paki' isn't (or shouldn't) be a racist term. It's like someone calling me a Scot because I live in Scotland. If I went to Pakistan and they called me a Scot I would see no difference as to calling me a Scottish person, or..a person from Scotland, it's just shortened down. I think it's just been blown way out of proportion the 'paki' term thing...I don't ever really say it but I don't see why people should get offended...It's just shortening down the country someone is from. Like "that guy is from Scotland, he is a Scottish person" "that guy is from Pakistan, he is a Paki. Or, if you like, Pakistani" I dunno, I just don't see why people get all up in arms when someone shortens the name down..

eurpoeans have less idiotic xenophobia, mate...than most of the rest of the world. I know polish folk who dont mind in the slightest been called polaks or polksa, i know french, who laugh at me calling them frogs, i know germans who smile, knowingly, when i call them krouts...

I doubt many nations would rush to assist the US once they get invaded, look at Libya and how long it's taking the EU to come to terms on that.
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Even if there were enough resources for 10 billion people to live comfortably and healthy (and I am almost positive there is not, not until we revamp our current energy system to use renewable resources), what then? People reproduce and it happens exponentially, 10 billion people will very quickly become 20 billion people, 50 billion people, 100 billion people. It will take a while but there is a limit to how many people can fit on the planet. The best analogy is Easter Island, far disconnected from the mainland. A thriving society rose up there, they chopped down all the trees, ruined the vegetation, and eventually all died out. There's a limited amount of space on an island and given enough time the population exceeded the carrying capacity of the island. The Earth is just an island floating around in space...

^Ok well you agree with me that 10 billion people could live here with decent food if the right money w3as spent in the right places...but ONLY (of course) if we revamped our energy systems...i.e. taking the FREE energy that has been about for at least 40 years (from what i know) and putting it to good use.

So if we all have free energy, and spent the money in the right plasces, we could easily house 10 billion people on this earth, if we really thought about it, as HUMANS (which wont obviously happen) and not individual groups of countries we could really make a good place for humans to live for centuries...

I think a new world order, or at least a 'one world order' would be the best thing for humans right now, we just need to get rid of religion (through time) and make humanity see that we are alll one and should live as one, borderless, human, society...why live any other way? If we were all one...we would use all rescources/money to explore space...as a race of HUMANS...Ok I'm gonna leave this post here and come back to it, I'm way too drunk to type my whole philosophy and thoughts on this here lol...But yeah..rundown: live as one, accept aliens, spread the wealth, LIVE as one, etc etc...please debate

toon, you should read of Burroughs' views on that exact matter...abolishment of all borders, destruction of the idea of countries, disection of all mutually abrasive governments and armies. I am almost sure a large chunk of such intriguing writing and thinking is in a book of his interviews...The Job. I highly reccomend it, not just for that area of the book, but for all of it. You would like the way his mind wandered...
