Re: Dog Question
I've never heard of this before. Isn't citronella mosquito repellent?

Re: Dog Question
It's used in collars to stop barking like the ones that give shocks. Except this one sprays citronella at the dogs nose

Re: Dog Question
I came close to buying a collar like that for his barking but I don't think it would work too well on him. The has really thick fur around his neck and well his nose is pretty long. Seems to me the spray will never get anywhere near his nose

Re: Dog Question
I believe they have one that is hand held and you just spray yourself. I wouldn't do that to my dog though.

Re: Dog Question
why not? it doesnt harm them... just annoys them enough to teach them that if they (enter bad habit here), they will get a spray of citronella on the snout

Re: Dog Question
Got another question for ya Doc
My mother in law has a small dog, it's a cross between a spaniel and I forget what. He's about 4 years old and she has always taken him for daily walks. Now the dog is starting to refuse to walk. He'll walk a bit and then sit down and not budge. If she pulls on the leash, he'll let himself be dragged. She has to pick him up and carry him home. Other than that he seems perfectly healthy and does not appear to have any physical problems like a bad leg or sore paws or whatever. What could possibly be the reason for this?

Re: Dog Question
That's weird. I've never heard of a dog having that problem. It doesn't seem old enough for it to be age related, especially considering it's a smaller dog. Maybe the it's afraid of something.
Tell her to try taking a pocket full of treats next time, maybe that'll get his attention. Depending on how physically active she is, she can try a faster pace with the dog. Also could try playing other games like fetch. That way she can at least determine if it has a physical issue or just an issue with the actual walk.

Re: Dog Question
Alright, I just phoned her up and told her what you said. She said to thank you for the information and that she will try the treats

Re: Dog Question
my dog used to do this in summer a little bit... it might have been that the pavement was too hot.
