A dystopia is the opposite of a utopia (perfect society). It's usually found in fiction (Think 1984, Brave New World, anything that describes a place that would be terrible to live in). A place where people are brainwashed and controlled by higher powers (the government) and are oppressed. I see signs of that in our own society and it's scary.

Big Brother is the dictator in 1984, and people are reminded that they are under surveillance by slogans like "Big Brother is watching you." It's a propaganda system, "Big Brother" can be seen as an oppressive figurehead for a controlling group of people.

btw i was wondering does anyone else find this,when theryre watching a film or see a emotive image i also see a deeper meaning behind things,like why the directer has done that,or figuring out what message an actor is saying without saying it directly???
