I shouldn’t get too involved in this debate because I don’t know much about the tests in question. however my problem was, and still is the 'concentrate on the kids who do well at school, fuck the kids who don’t do so well'..

this is the opposite of what is going on...the stupid kids are holding back the average/advanced ones because the schools main objective is to get everyone to pass the test.

If so then that is just stupid. Here anyways they place kids on individual testing which I have no problem with.

I know it's tough not to let your feelings get rolling once you start typing. I'm the same way in general if I see something I disagree with I tend to start getting ahead of myself.

no its not that they pass as a group but instead of focusing on learning new things the class curriculum is based on passing thge FCAT even if the majority of students have already passed it still the focus of the school because school ranking is based on the FCAT and school funding is based on the rank.

Why not just put them in some advanced coursework and let the others continue with the regular coursework?

because we're not talking about regular course work and we're not talking about adavanced students. FCAT is info that you should know by the end of freshman year and should be solid by sophomore year, but in order to get everyone to pass the focus is maintained on the FCAT for the people who havent passed. this doesnt mean that the other students are advanced it just means they passed the test already. so what ends up happening is kids get bored with school and that leads to a whole other mess of problems.
