All products that you buy now (televisions, cellphones, cars, whatever holds technology) are made to last 5years tops
I don't agree with you there. I have a million things that will last me for the rest of my life (like clothes). I have an old car that's fixed it works allright, an old phone etc. I don't need television to tell me what's good to buy. We live in two different countries, so out views on stuff like clothes, cares, cellphones and what's NEEDED are completely different. My outlook on this is that people buy too much stuff they don't need cause someone on television told them to.
Most people's life inspiration comes from TV ("the purpose of my life for the next five years is to work my ass of so I can buy a new car, so I neglect other things souch as fun and family and blabla"). It goes to extremes too, kids trying to look tough cause they saw it on TV etc.

He meant the thing you buy now. Like you say your old car works fine and your old mobile phone still works. He means if you went to the shop today and bought a brand new tv or mobile phone it'll only last about 5 years if that.

Depends on who makes the product. Fiat lasts shorter then Mercedes-Benz which lasts shorter then a Bentley...

Ofcourse if you can buy products that are of exceptional quality but I think he means just things in general. I had a fridge that lasted 9 years and it didnt break. Only reason we got rid of it was cause it was really small. Then the new one we got only lasted about 2 1/2 years before it went wrong.

that just means you had more money before. you (as a consumer) had money to buy a quality product. Now, quality products are more expensive because of various economical factors (recesion, etc.). 10 years ago, fiat still making crappy cars and was cheaper then mercedes just like now...
at least that's how I see it. maybe cause I don't have money for anything (good or crappy) right now.

im in socal and cops piss me off
all they do is hide on side streets looking for petty crimes like speeding or going on a yellow

The only reason most people buy things 5 years later is because there is newer, better versions of whatever they have. I know people who had 6 year old cellphones, the only reason they got new ones is because the new ones make the old ones look like complete and utter shit.

Technology is advancing at a ridiculous rate so to keep up you have to buy new shit every 3-4 years.
